Amateur Career

Corrales compiled an amateur record of 105-12. Some of his highlights were:

  • 1994 2nd place at featherweight in the United States Amateur Championships, losing to Frankie Carmona on points in the final
  • 1995 Bronze Medalist at featherweight in the Pan-American Games
  • 1995 Lost in the World Championships in Berlin, Germany to Marco Rudolph in the lightweight competition


Corrales died on May 7, 2007 of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in Las Vegas, Nevada. Subsequent toxicology reports indicated that Corrales was legally drunk at the time of the accident, with a blood alcohol level of 0.25&
