Mayweather, who was paid $7,500 for the fight, put Cooper on the seat of his pants with a left jab to the body at 0:25 of round one.
A barrage of punches by Mayweather later put Cooper through the ropes and unto the ring apron. He was back in the ring and on his feet at the count of four, but referee Mitch Halpern called a halt to the contest at 1:39 of the first round.
Cooper protested the stoppage, but Halpern said Cooper didn't answer him when he asked if he was okay.
