2009-09-02 : Christy Martin 152 lbs beat Dakota Stone 153 lbs by MD in round 10 of 10

Despite breaking her right hand in this bout, after 20 years and 57 pro bouts, 41 year old Christy Martin survived to the final bell to become the oldest female to hold a world championship by scoring a majority ten round decision over Dakota Stone to win the vacant WBC Women's Light Middleweight Title. Martin, 49-5-3 with 32 kayos, Orlando, Florida, won the first six rounds with a nonstop barrage of accurate body shots. In rounds seven, eight and nine, the 5'10" Dakota Stone, Seattle, Washington, 9-8-4 with 1 kayo, behind on points, made the bout interesting as she picked up the pace and went toe-to-toe in center ring as the 5'4" Martin faded. In round ten, Martin broke her right hand throwing an overhand right trying for a knockout, and spent the entire round backpeddling in defensive retreat to try to survive. Martin drew with Angela Buchanan in her professional debut on September 9, 1989, the longest gap between debut and winning a world title in pro boxing history.
