1975-03-17 : Sammy Goss 128 lbs lost to Ray Lunny III 130 lbs by TKO in round 8 of 12

"Ray Lunny III conquered a small piece of his world at the Circle Star Theater in San Carlos Monday night when opponent Sammy Goss was unable to answer the bell for the 9th round because of a severely cut eye. The result was a TKO victory for Lunny and gave him a version of the NABF junior lightweight championship. Lunny weathered a swarming barrage of punches by Goss in the 6th, before returning with a staggering right of his own that turned the round completely around. Midway through the 8th round blood started gushing from the wound above Goss' left eye and the the Trenton, N.J. Battler seemed to give up. Dr. Don Lastretto of the CSAC surveyed the cut between rounds and told referee Vern Bybee that Goss was in no shape to continue the fight." -San Mateo Times
