Also known as Texas Jack Burke. Born in Chicago in 1869 under the name George Campbell. His first recorded fight was 18 May 1891 against Tom Monaghen for the Light Weight Championship of Texas. Burke worked as an instructor at the Young Men's Athletic Club of Houston, Texas at this time. In 1893, he served as an instructor at the Young Men's Boxing Club of New Orleans.

Married to Rose Postlewaite circa 1891. Travelled with his wife, Rose Burke, in vaudeville, she a lady pugilist and bag puncher. Divorced from Rose Burke circa 1896. Rose Burke apparently re-married prize fighter Jim O'Leary. Rose Burke died Parkersburg, West Viriginia, March 19, 1900. Jack Burke attended her funeral. She was 30 years of age.

Jack Burke continued to travel the vaudeville circuit in the United States and three trips to England performing a bag punching rountine. In 1907 appeared as a comedy boxing act billed as Burke and Finn. Died October 25, 1913, Bellvue Hospital, New York City.
