1934 Johnny Brown of the Chicago, IL CYO made the final of the Chicago Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions with the verdict being awarded to Jesse Levels at flyweight.

1935 won the Chicago Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions by decision vs. Troy Bellini at bantamweight and he was stopped at the end of the 2nd for the Intercity Golden Gloves' championship at bantamweight by Charles Villareale.

1936 won the Chicago Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions at bantamweight by decision, it has been said vs. Paul Combs. Brown won the Intercity Golden Gloves' championship at bantamweight vs. future world champion Petey Scalzo.
