1970-02-14 : Jose Napoles 145½ lbs beat Ernie Lopez 146 lbs by TKO at 2:38 in round 15 of 15

"Welterweight champion Jose Napoles, punching with machine-like precision, scored a 15th round knockout Saturday night over challenger Ernie 'Indian Red' Lopez, who was dropped three times before the referee halted the bout. Napoles used a merciless left jab as his chief weapon. He opened up on Lopez in the 1st round and sent him down for a two count. Lopez suffered a nick under his right eye and a bloody nose that hampered him throughout the fight. Napoles scored his other knockdown in the 9th round when he dropped his foe for a count of four. The third knockdown came in the 15th round but again Lopez was up at the count of five and with no steam left in his arms vainly tried to land a telling blow but referee Larry Rozadilla stopped it at 2:38." -United Press International
