"Former welterweight champion Luis Rodriguez took command in the 4th round with his running-jabbing style and went on to a unanimous 10 round decision over middleweight Bennie Briscoe at the Philadelphia Arena Monday night. The 29 year old Cuban from Miami stymied the hard-punching Briscoe, 24, in the middle four rounds. Rodriguez simply outboxed his opponent, giving him only a fleeting target. In the 8th round, Briscoe came to life and apparently had the round won after several heated exchanges. But referee Zack Clayton took the round from him for an illegal head butt. The last two rounds were split, with Briscoe winning the 9th and Rodriguez the 10th." -Associated Press
- Briscoe cut Rodriguez' left eye in the 3rd round with a right cross and the Cuban's corner was unable stem the flow throughout the fight.
