  • Born: March 29, 1952 in Las Tunas Province, Cuba – died: June 11, 2012 in Havana, Cuba
  • Stevenson is one of only three boxers to win three Olympic gold medals, alongside Hungarian Laszlo Papp and fellow Cuban Felix Savon.
  • In a 1988 Boxing Illustrated poll, Stevenson was selected as the greatest Olympic boxer of all-time
  • Lost twice to Igor Vysotsky, once by knockout, and never avenged those losses
