Teddy Atlas


Trainer

Learned the boxing trade from the legendary Cus D'Amato. Trained such champions as Mike Tyson (as an amateur) and Michael Moorer, the first southpaw World Heavyweight Champion. Also served as trainer for the 1980 Swedish Olympic team.

  • The scar on the left side of his face is the result of a knife wound from a street altercation. It required 400 stitches.
  • Won the Adirondack Golden Gloves Light Welterweight Championship in 1976. Atlas quit boxing because of a back injury.
  • Founded the Dr. Theodore Atlas Foundation in 1997 in honor of his father. The main mission of the Foundation is the awarding of scholarships and grants to worthy individuals and organizations based upon scholastic potential, community service, athletic achievement, and economic need.
