Toby Gibson, a referee for the Nevada State Athletic Commission, commited suicide on Nov. 24, 2008, as confirmed by the NSAC. No details about how or why he took his life were given at the time. Just a few days prior to his suicide, on Nov. 22, he refereed two fights. One of the fights was between Matthew Hatton (Ricky Hatton's younger brother) and Ben Tackie, on the undercard of Ricky Hatton vs. Paul Malignaggi.
