Tony Mundine was a Middleweight contender during the 1970s, and was stopped in the 7th round of an unsuccessful bid for Carlos Monzon's World Middleweight title. During his career, Mundine held Australian national titles in the Middleweight, Light Heavyweight and Heavyweight divisions. He was known as a good puncher, but he did not have a world class chin.

Mundine is the father of World Super Middleweight Champion Anthony Mundine, who he currently trains.
