Tron: When creating a fight page, remember to add the "fight code" at the very top. --Ric 14:26, 14 Apr 2006 (CDT)

The fight code is the fight number (which you can see at the top of any fight page) contained within "fight" code tags, like this: <fight>12345</fight>

Good Stuff, Tron!

Tron: You have been adding exceptional, little-known, boxing material to this BoxRec Boxing Encylopedia. Great stuff! Thank you. --Ric 23:29, 14 Apr 2006 (CDT)

Boxer Code

Tron, in addition to "fight code"--which you now seemed to have mastered--there is a companion "boxer code." Do the same thing you do for the fight code--put the ID number between tags--but this time use the word "boxer" instead of "fight. Such as: <boxer>12345</boxer>
Try it with this boxer page you created: Roy Askvold
Remember to always put it at the very top of the boxer page--unless you have also inserted an image of the boxer, in which case the boxer code should be placed immediately below the image code. --Ric 10:55, 15 Apr 2006 (CDT)

Text Wrapping

Tron, are you letting the text wrap, when you type your article up? When I proofread your work, I am noticing that I'm finding that your text is breaking at the end of the line, and for me to wrap it, I have to delete the enter that is in the paragraph.--Matt Tegen 10:36, 28 Apr 2006 (CDT)

Replying to Messages

Tron, to reply to a message sent to you, you do not have to send an email to that person. Instead, click on the "Talk" section of their User Page (like I am doing here). And be sure to leave your "signature" (click the second-to-the-right icon at the top of the Talk/Discussion text window). --Ric 22:15, 28 Apr 2006 (CDT)

Extra Spaces

Tron, why do you add extra spaces in parenthesis or quotation marks? Such as: ( 2nd meeting ) or " text " -- instead of the more common (2nd meeting) or "text"? --Ric 13:37, 6 May 2006 (CDT)

New Bouts

Tron, why don't you become a fellow volunteer BoxRec Editor and enter those "new" bouts you have discovered into the database yourself? Ask JohnShep for a user name and password at mailto:eds@boxrec.com ..... --Ric 19:31, 6 Jun 2006 (CDT)

BoxRec Editor

Tron, Welcome aboard as a brand-new BoxRec Editor. I saw your recent entries: [1]. Remember, if you note "date uncertain" be sure to cite your source. For THE RING magazine, some people put TR1062.65 (for Oct. 1962, p. 65). Others just spelling it out as The Ring Oct. 1962, p. 65. --Ric 10:38, 12 Jun 2006 (CDT)

Adding/Editing Venues

Tron, I saw your note to this fight. Now that you are a BoxRec Editor, you can add venues to locations, where no venue is currently provided. Do a BoxRec date search, or go to the fight via a boxer's record. You can then click on the "edit" icon (to the right of the location: BoxRec.edit.gif) , and add the venue to the location. See also "Tips & Tricks for New Editors" [2]. --Ric 13:04, 12 Jun 2006 (CDT)

Bjarne Lingaas

Tron, regarding your question about Bjarne Lingaas. I'm sorry, but I am of no help. Perhaps you should contact fellow BoxRec Editor Palais (of Norway) at palais@frisurf.no, or Swede boxing historian Christer Franzen at mrboxhist@bredband.net
--Ric 10:05, 17 July 2006 (CDT)

BoxRec Entries

Tron, is there a reason you do not include spaces between words when you write something like this in your BoxRec entries: "Date uncertain. The Ring,Jan 1957." It should read: "Date uncertain. The Ring, Jan 1957" --Ric 11:50, 6 August 2006 (CDT)

Blue Book Icon

Tron, there is nothing I can do about the blue book icons that lead to the fight descriptions. This bug in the system was mentioned to JohnShep in the "Editors Only" section of the BoxRec Forum some time ago. I am sure this is one of many items he is planning to address. --Ric 18:46, 8 August 2006 (CDT)

John Wiksen

Please do get in contact with his son and confirm the photo. I'll delete my new Wiksen page. I had difficulty translating my conversation with my Norwegian friends who came to visit me the other day, and somehow got the impression he was still around. Wiksen's chapter for Pete's book may have been written earlier and simply attached to the 2006 publication. --Ric 08:38, 8 October 2006 (CDT)

Asbjørn Berg-Hansen

Tron, can you merge your info to this page for Berg-Hansen: Asbjørn Berg-Hansen. I will delete the A. Berg-Hansen one, because it is a duplicate.--Matt Tegen 16:28, 6 March 2007 (CST)

Bjarne Lingaas vs. J. Walach

Tron, the description of this fight is on the wrong fight page. Look here at the information generated by inserting the boxer code. Furthermore, the fight itself has not been added to the BoxRec database yet (Look here). Maybe you would like to do that.--Emaster 08:21, 13 October 2007 (CDT)

Hey, Emaster, you're right. Someone other than me removed the fight from Lingaas' record about one year ago. Something which I accepted. I don't own the issue of The Ring where the complete card of the Johansson-Patterson probably is. It's somewhat a mystery fight. It was reported in a Norwegian newspaper, but it's probably a description of a fight not involving Lingaas. However the fight stuck to Lingaas record when he started fighting as a pro i Norway 1965. My guess is that Lingaas was billed to fight, but the fight was dropped.--Tron 14:40, 14 October 2007 (CDT)

Don't Forget the Boxer Code

Tron, you are forgetting to insert the boxer code. See instructions above. --Ric 18:26, 28 December 2007 (CST)

Rudi Lubbers case

I'm not sure where the info came from, but it was absolutely false. Lubbers served his sentence fully (in Portugal) and has never been rehabilitated by Dutch authorities nor has he been payed anything. Lubbers is currenty homeless and wants both a rehabilitation and compensation for he says he was innocent.--Wouter 11:29, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

"vs." rather than "vs"

Tron, when naming fight pages "vs." is preferred to "vs".--Emaster 13:48, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
