In 1949, Wes Bascom won the Chicago Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions vs. Pierre Jackson of Cincinnati, OH, by knockout in the 3rd round, at light heavyweight (video: [1]); and represented Chicago for the Intercity Golden Gloves championship at light heavyweight--being awarded the verdict over Elliott Powers.
