1998-08-06 : Wladimir Klitschko 235 lbs beat Carlos Monroe 259½ lbs by TKO at 2:28 in round 6 of 10

  • Location: Grand Casino Avoyelles, Marksville, Louisiana, USA
  • Referee: Paul Sita

In getting revenge for his left cheek scar, which came from butts in their previous bout, Klitschko pawed and hooked his way to the TKO. It came after one knockdown for a nine count, from a straight right. ESPN used blows counters, but reported poorly the results. Blows for the first two rounds were: Klitschko 38/87 44%, Monroe 4/67 6%. Round four blows were: Klitschko 12/31 39%, Monroe 3/38 8%. The commentators joked about Monroe's average of three blows scored per round.
