Is that true, or did he just move up in weight, where his power wasn't as effective?

39-0 at light-middlle
3-3 at middle, but spread over nearly 7 years, with two retirements thrown in.

Re: Who do you think is the most overrated boxer?

golovkin wouldve beat pirog handily. a lotta people seem to have their memory of pirog limited to the ko punch vs jacobs In Pirog’s first defense the inexperienced Javier Marcial gave him a lot to handle by applying the kind of pressure GGG excelled at. IMO Martinez would have outpointed Pirog too ...

Re: Who do you think is the most overrated boxer?

He was also lucky that Dmitry Pirog suffered the career ending injury. If they'd fought, GGG would have been a 30 year old fighter, who'd just lost his belts, and he might never have got another chance to climb back to the top. Dunno, I think GGG outpoints him. Pirog is like fighters who die young,...

Golovkin Clearly talented Hbo boogeyman Fought evenly with jacobs and derevenchyko Phony title defense "record" Lost twice to canelo(should have 1 win but officially zero) He was also lucky that Dmitry Pirog suffered the career ending injury. If they'd fought, GGG would have been a 30 yea...

Re: Terence "Bud" Crawford: Where Do You Rank Him Now?

If you are about to rank Bud Crawford in the top 100 pound per pound all-time boxers list, where would you rank him now, at this moment? He has been undisputed champion in 3 weight classes. He is undefeated at 38 years old. Is there any more mountains for Bud to climb? More to the point, are you go...

Re: Golovkin at 35 y/o was a superior fighter to the 35 y/o Canelo (recent version)

Shame Golovkin's legacy is tainted with two robberies vs Canelo. He'd probably be in line as one of the greatest ever, but sadly... even though we all know they were robberies, all what matters at the end of the day and for the record books is the final result. In 20 years time noone's gonna rememb...

I'm not sure, and the worrying thing is, judging by some of the decisions over the years, neither are the actual real-life boxing judges.

Re: Max weight for Usyk ?

What's the highest weight you think Usyk will weigh in at for the Fury fight ? I'm thinking 225-228 Pounds. I don't think they'll ever fight ....... Fury will continue to find reasons to avoid him. For how long ? However long it takes ......... Usyk is now 37, so another 3 or 4 years should be enou...

Re: Is the popularity and rewards of MMA watering down the quality in boxing?

I don't think the quality of MMA is having much affect on boxing. The opportunity for youngsters to pursue other activities has increased greatly, boxing is competing with many other sports/hobbies for their attention in those formative years. Also, the ridiculous politics of the pro game, and the r...

Re: Muhammad Ali at 80: Your Thoughts.

He is still probably the most famous, most iconic sports person in history. He wasn't the greatest HW of all-time, but could have been. If he hadn't lost 3 years of his prime career to his "Vietnam ban" then it's possible that he beats Frazier in their first fight, and maybe even matches M...

I'd say Jones was the better boxer, and if he'd retired at the age of 35 with a record of 49-1, and world titles at 4 weights, he'd have been considered an all time great.

Re: Who here met Alan Minter in person?

I met Minter in 1991, in a nightclub in Lancashire. It was a long time ago, and I wasn't really paying that much attention to his height, but from what I recall he was a couple of inches shorter than me, and I'm 6' 1" ....... So I'd put him about 5'10" or 5'11"

I preferred watching Morales, and although Barrera won the head to head 2-1; on my scorecard I thought Morales was robbed in the 2nd fight.

Therefore I voted Morales.

A very predictable result (wasn't it EO? )

It's not GGG's fault that he's had little quality opposition in his career. It would have been very different if Pirog hadn't got injured in 2012, but unfortunately, we were robbed of that great rivalry.

All discussions of ATGs are subjective, and usually combine a mixture of quality and quantity, with the standard of opponent and the length of career being assessed according to our own opinions and prejudices. The only thing which is fact, is a boxer's record (and even that may include some dodgy j...

Re: Floyd Mayweather vs. Logan Paul | Exhibition - February 20, 2021

I don't even recognise Mayweather's fight against McGregor as part of his official career (for me he retired at 49-0). This is just another showbusiness, exhibition event, that should have no connection with the real world of boxing. I have little interst in it, beyond hoping that it doesn't come to...
