Re: sparring gym killers that whooped big champions and never shine on the big scene of boxing/ lost in the process?
I heard that top notch fighters like Ali and FMJ were dominated in some of their sparrings, if this is true? Paul Spadafora got the better of Floyd in a 6 rd sparring session back in the late 90’s. It’s on YouTube. I read where Jesse Reid said that Floyd wanted to stop after 4 rds but he insisted t...

Re: Who is your p4p king?
Its a hard choice. Canelo is p4p1 if you see the fights the way his judges do. But what if you see them the way i do? Would canelo still be the overwhelming pick for number 1, if he had a loss and a draw vs GGG? unlikely. Sounds a little like spilled milk. No room for improvement? So he won a debat...

Re: Fighters with the worst padded resume?
Bubblegum Sean O’Grady has to be on this list. He ultimately became a pretty decent fighter but nowhere near the 81-5 w 70 kos record would indicate. Turned pro at 15 and did the mid-west circuit for a few yrs. His dad Pat O’Grady put him in with Danny Lopez when he was just 17. He was 25-0 at the t...

Holy smoke and mirrors Batman. EO, The Master Of illusion, resides in the Kingdom Of Splitting Hairs. :brick: I began to read your epic novel of a response but quite frankly, by the 1486th sentence, I got winded and a little weak in the knees. I simply didn’t have the strength to continue on. I supp...

Re: Heavyweight danger Oleksandr Usyk beefs up further ahead of title shot
Disagree with EO completely. It’s absolutely imperative that Usyk bulk up and add some muscle mass AND strength. If he’s struggling against Chisora then his chances vs the elite aren’t very good. I’d say nil. 7- 10 lbs of muscle could very well lead him to the promised land and not hinder his speed,...

Much too soon to call him The Goods but what a prospect! Size, speed, reflexes, pop, boxing ability, youth, a little attitude and charisma to boot. A promoter's dream. Best American prospect in decades perhaps. The sky is the limit. A future champ in my humble opinion.

Re: Who had better head movement than James Toney?
Willie Pep certainly at or near top of the list, Duran was exceptional as well, SRR and SRL of course, prime Rigo, and honorable mention to Chris Byrd who was always fighting guys much bigger but more than held his own due to his cat like defense. Toney was about as natural as they get. Very tough t...

Under the radar Navarette getting no love. 4-0 4 kos v 88-5 records. Should at least be discussed in p4p terms. . The kid is the real deal.

“Highly Underrated” by who: Fans/social media/ sports media/Boxing authorities? He was a 1st time ballot HOFer. Undefeated 46-0. Fans are fans and going to say whatever is on their mind via social media “Joe Calslappy” and other various derogatory names. Who cares what they think. There is a general...

Re: Josh Taylor's chances at WW ?
Some tall fighters are/were exceptional on the inside. SRR, Hearns, Sadler, Tito are just a few. When a tall fighter is good on the inside, it gives their opponent something to think about. If you are going to get on the inside on these guys, you’re going to have to go through hell to do it. Hearns...

Re: Josh Taylor's chances at WW ?
He is very good at inside fighting. Ive noticed many users here on boxrec think that tall fighter should not fight inside. Actually tall fighter has some good advantages in close combat, especially if he is going to the body. Middle distance is place where shorter fighter have real advantage How do...

Re: Shawn Porter vs. Yordenis Ugas - March 9, 2019
Judges are paid to split hairs. They're professionals. It doesn't matter if you or I score a round even. Our cards are irrelevant. But the judge's cards do decides who wins and who loses. If they can't decide who was the more effective fighter in a 3 minute span, they need to find another job. As m...

Re: Shawn Porter vs. Yordenis Ugas - March 9, 2019
One judge had 4 even rounds? C'mon man.... I have no issue with 4 rds being 10-10. There were at least 6 rds that could be argued either way. Why should an official be forced to pick a winner of a rd when neither clearly won it? The issue in this fight was Max DeLuca absurdedly calling rd 12 for Po...

Re: Would Marvin Hagler be a top Middleweight today?
When Hagler announced his retirement in 1988 he said he weighed 166. Hagler was rock solid but not a big middleweight by any means. I see him at welter today and rehydrating to about 162 or 163. He'd eat a prime Mayweather alive. I tend to not chime in to this sort of nonsense but I guess I'll take...
