Official decisions trump everything. Byrd shouldn't move down in rankings for WINNING. Vitali shouldn't leapfrog six other fighters for LOSING (by TKO). Until he'd beaten Sanders, Vitali Klitschko had never beaten anyone in Ring magazine's Top 10. But this misses the point. Ring is a magazine, and t...

As much as I don't like the sacntioning bodies, I think it makes sense to draw the line there. They sanction the fights; The Ring sanctions nothing. Further, if boxrec started recognizing Ring champs, they would also have to recognize lineal champs, USA Today champs, Maxboxing.com champs, eastsidebo...

What if the roles were reversed and it was Clazaghe who went down 2nd. Do U think the referee would have stopped it? :-? In Joe’s hometown? I wonder where the term hometown decision came from? I'm not arguing whether or not the stoppage was controversial (I think it was a bad st...

No problem. I'll add others as I find them. Here's another that's not noted (Holyfield/Tyson): http://www.reviewjournal.com/sports/boxing/tyson-holyfield/stories/downout.html Holyfield, 215, knocked Tyson down with a left hook in the sixth round with 37 seconds. Tyson went down on the seat of his pa...

Missing/incorrect knockdown notes
For Freitas vs. Ramirez, a knockdown was called against Freitas in the second round: Freitas rallied from a disputed second-round knockdown to deck Ramirez twice in the third. The champion continued to punish Ramirez with both hands in the fourth before the referee stepped in to stop the proceedings...

Is anyone going to address this? Are only some knockdown calls noted? If so, why? You should either note them all or none of them. You also need to figure out a system for editorializing knockdown calls. The following appears in the Freitas/Grigorian entry: Grigorian down four times. Three of the &q...

Tarver by KO2 or TKO2?
I posted this in the Current section, but I have a feeling it'll garner a bunch or moronic replies, so I'm also posting it here. The AP and the WBA Online report it was a TKO2, but boxrec and FightNews report (correctly, in my opinion) that Nady got to 10, and thus it was a KO2. I think Buffer also ...

Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Carlos Hernández
Mayweather suffered a knockdown in round six. From: http://espn.go.com/boxing/news/2001/0526/1205368.html "Mayweather, 24, suffered the first knockdown of his career when his right glove touched the canvas in the sixth round. He wasn't hit, but was given a standing eight count by referee Dale G...

Lennox Lewis' IBF belt
Lennox Lewis' IBF belt disappears from his record without explanation. It should be noted how that belt was lost—i.e., whether he vacated to avoid fighting Chris Byrd, or whether he was stripped for failing to fight Chris Byrd.

Cotto
Petty question, but why is Miguel Cotto's middle name ("Angel") displayed on his record? The few times I've seen him fight, I've never heard the ring announcer or commentators use it. (Is that a middle name?)
Just curious.
