Re: spare a thought.....

RIP Darren Sutherland, so much potential. Found this documentary really interesting, features Sutherland pretty heavily as an amateur amongst others and you get some good insight into his personality. All of the parts are on YouTube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=096IAmZq5og Yeah, a real shame, ve...

Re: malignaggi accuses Pacman

I think that there will always be suspicions of athletes that reach the level of Bolt and Pacquiao, people are more cynical these days, especially since Ben Johnson and more recently the drug fest that is the Tour De France. Let's try not to be cynical and enjoy them while they are competing; innoce...

Re: Primetime online stream

My stream has locked up a couple of times now and usually it's as good as gold when I am watching fights online. I think I'll have to line up a Justin one as a backup. Not a good sign.

Re: R.I.P. Darren Sutherland

This will stick in the memory for a very long time to come.......... This type of tragedy brings the sport of boxing togther in grief and sadness. I think i speak for a lot of people, when i say that, although a lot of us did'nt know Darren personally, we are all touched by his death, whether it be...

Re: Tyson Fury.. the raw facts, lets put this to bed.

Fury has only had a few fights. I know he is being over hyped (especially by his own camp), but hype sells tickets, gets the TV coverage and pays the bills, lets just give him a fair crack of the whip. He's young for a heavy weight. Taking away the controversy of Friday night (the result wasn't his ...

Re: Fury V McDermott, disgusting! (Super-Merged)

I'm not biased to either fighter, but decisions and scoring like that are damaging to the sport of boxing, it almost makes me not want to bother with it any more. O'Connnor needs to get to SpecSavers sharpish. Maloney got it spot on in his interview after the fight. The BBBofC need to leave him alon...

Re: Do early stoppages harm the winning boxer?

I think it depends on the boxer and their perception of reality; Frankie Gavin said last night, that he thought that he was an 'average' puncher. Other less realistic fighters, might let their ego's get a bit carried away with the early stoppages I suppose.

There are so many Don Kng quotes, but I love this one, complete nonsense! "I'm a promoter of the people for the people and by the people and my magic lies in my people ties. I'm a promoter of America. I'm American people. You know what I mean? So therefore, uh, do not send for who the bell toll...

Re: Should Sam Sexton be forced to give Rogie a rematch

There's got to be a rematch! It was good fight (especially compared to some 'domestic' (I know Rogan is Irish) heavy weight clashes that we have seen over recent years). Rogan sells tickets, SKY would probably want it and I think that the boxing public would want to see it as it was close, entertain...

Re: New Members - Introduce Yourself Here

Alright everyone, I haven't actually introduced myself yet (posted a couple of times, mainly been a lunch break reader). From West London, 37 years old. Favourite fighters are Duran, Hagler, Tyson, Benn, Marquez and Hatton (don't start! ;), amongst others.

Maybe see some of ya at the Haye fight.

Re: Dave Parris tonight.

It wasn't a great performance by Parris, but still Rogan had the chance to finish him and didn't take it. The doctor had seen him a couple of times and so he knew he was on borrowed time and he should have stopped Sexton. No matter how much of an off night Parris had, Rogan cost himself the victory.

Re: Dave Parris tonight.

But it's the ref's job to stop the fight if he sees fit and Rogan's job to keep punching until the ref jumps in or he KO's his opponent. As Freddie Roach said to Manny P during the De La Hoya fight "it's your job to knock him out!"

Re: PRIZEFIGHTER WAS FIXED

I think the frantic pace of the 3 round format does make it harder to judge. I guess if you're in the competition, the only way to make sure that you get through to the next round is to go for the KO. I was there last night; I thought Dilks was robbed of an appearence in the final, but my mate thoug...
