What marlin said. Each of your bits need to be connected to the TV, not to each other - well that's how mine's setup anyway. HD box cables go into the AV1 sockets of the TV DVD cables go into the AV2 sockets of the TV TV aerial goes into your HD box though, not your TV or DVD or whatever else. etc.
