Carlos Palomino on points or early knockout. He was the better inside fighter of the two.

Re: Fights where the ref affected the result
The first knockdown and the rabbit punches. That referee didn't refereed another big world title fight ever again. I could be corrected.Controversial wrote: ↑02 Jun 2023, 07:06In what way, the first round knockdown you mean on in general?elmersalsa wrote: ↑01 Jun 2023, 17:06 The referee of the Gerald McClellan vs Nigel Benn title fight was terrible. Re: Fights where the ref affected the result
Did you think Benn was the beneficiary of a slow count in round 1 ? Definitely! He was out. The French referee helped Nigel Benn to recuperate by not allowing Gerald McClellan to continue and finish him off. He held McClellan for at least 20 seconds. Maybe more. Plus, he let Benn hit McClellan with...

Re: Joe Bugner vs. David Tua
David Tua could be outboxed. When he was getting outboxed early, his coupe of grace was the lucky left hook in the later rounds. This is a very interesting fight. I would probably pick Joe Bugner. Tua had a lot of problems with bigger guys over 6'3" height. Bugner was 6'4" or 6'5" I b...

Ron Lyle wins before the tenth. Bigger and stronger. And hit harder. Does Lyle hit harder than the great Joe Louis? I don't know. But he can hit. Ask Big George

Re: Salvador Sanchez-Samuel Serrano
By the way, this would be one of the great Salvador Sanchez's easiest fights at 130lbs if he would have been still alive and move to that class.
Sanchez wins big, and by knockout. No matter the venue.

That's the same thing I have said about the great Carlos Zarate. Why did he go to Puerto Rico to fight a great fighter like Wilfredo Gomez above his weight class was beyond my comprehension.

Re: Felix Trinidad vs. Luis Rodriguez
Felix "Tito" Trinidad wasn't good enough. He had a well-cautious boxing career, while the great Luis Manuel Rodriguez was fighting top men ever since his 20th fight. This is a big gap in record and technically wise. Rodriguez is way miles ahead. Tito's not in his class. El Feo on points an...

Re: If the Great Salvador Sanchez Would Have Not Died: What were His Chances in Boxing History?
While I've never found confirmation, I know Sanchez was struggling to make weight at Featherweight in the end, and I've always suspected the basis for the talk of a fight with Alexis Arguello was because Sanchez was probably in the gym and feeling great at 135. Did he really ducked the great Eusebi...

If the Great Salvador Sanchez Would Have Not Died: What were His Chances in Boxing History?
I put on some thought about Mexican great Salvador Sanchez of his chances of becoming a top ten all-time great pound per pound boxer or simply the best boxer that ever happened if his career would have not been cut so short dying in a car crash in 1982. By the time of his death, Sanchez already acco...

Re: Hector Camacho Sr. versus Azumah Nelson
Hector "Macho" Camacho by Unanimous decision. Back in 1983, and in his prime, Camacho had it all. He was a complete fighter. He could have been the Island of Puerto Rico greatest boxer. He was too fast. If the great Salvador Sanchez would have been alive, he probably would have had to figh...

And the question was leading up to the fight, who is this Wilfred Benitez? He wasn't well known all over the world not even in the United States, even though, he was really born there in the Bronx, a New York City borough, on September 12, 1958. Unbeaten in his first 25 fights, the young challenger ...
