Re: Riddick Bowe vs. Michael Spinks

....but Spinks beat Larry Holmes. Fair call. But Holmes was well past his best by this point He was still competitive ten years later against McCall. He had plenty left in the tank when he fought Spinks. Michael seams to only get remembered for his only loss, not the back to back wins over a Hall o...

Re: Riddick Bowe vs. Michael Spinks

Bowe lost to Tony Tubbs and apart from Holyfield, who did he beat? Spinks beat the an ATG in Larry Holmes and is criminally underrated on this forum. Bowe would have to be at his absolute best to beat the Spinks that beat Holmes...... twice, At HW his management was incredibly selective about who h...

Re: Hearns @ 154

I wouldn't have bet on Hearns to be able to outbox Hagler for the full 15 (or was it 12? can't remember now). EIther way I can't see him beating Hagler any which way they fought. If he boxed he would have run out of puff as stamina was not his strong suit

Re: Most Powerful Punchers

I've thought for a long time now, that the bigger the fighter the easier it is for them to be KO'd. IMO it's more to do with the reduced ability to to absorb a punch the higher the weight division, rather than the power in the punches coming at them :bag:

Re: Hearns @ 154

Never liked the way Hearns swung his left arm side to side whilst it was hanging around at hip height. He was lucky that very few were able to take advantage of it. I'd say McCallum beats Hearns at 154lbs, 7 out of 10 I don't disagree one bit with you. The great Mike McCallum was a very complete fi...

The name Lance Hobson popped into my mind so I thought I'd mention him here. He collapsed between rounds of a fight he was winning in 1996 in Melbourne, and never regained consciousness. RIP

Re: Roberto Duran vs Esteban De Jesus (I): Duran's First Loss 50 Years Ago

Always love watching that. Very little to like about Duran (along his fans with all their crybaby excuses) and it was great seeing him face planted. Most fight fans have their favorites that they make every excuse for. Duran was a fun watch and easily an all time pound for pound fighter. Not much t...

It was sad reading years ago that Floyd was suffering from dementia/ alzheimers whilst he was head of the NY State Athletic Commission. When the issue of Aids was brought up he said he'd only just head of it, and that ould have been in the 90's He always seemed a genuinely nice fellow who didn't fit...

Re: Most Powerful Punchers

Danny Lopez and the great Jimmy Wilde should be in tier 1 And possibly at the very top of it. But nobody wants to imagine that possibly the hardest punching boxer that ever lived, could have weighed only 108 lbs There just isn't enough to back up that claim. Unfortunately, he fought to early to hav...

If you tie the HW to a pole with his arms behind his back...then maybe Why would you have to do that? Tommy could've landed on any heavy in history. Bollocks by username Bollocks by reply. Re: Roberto Duran vs Esteban De Jesus (I): Duran's First Loss 50 Years Ago

Hagler would have been standing afterwards :TU: Seemingly the best equipped to take a murder punch like that. Personally think that would have felled even Marvin. When you talk about being hit on the button, they should use this Hearns punch as a demonstration. I'm not convinced 75% of heavies woul...

The WBC in it's infinite wisdom gave Fenech the WBC Jr. Lightweight championship from his draw in 1991. 27 minutes later the WBC noticed that Fenech had not defended said belt in 31 years and immediately stripped him of the title.
