Re: Promoters need to be careful

Personaly I prefer the more cordial approach in the build up to a fight. Trash-talking is okay in itself but when it gets too intense, unless the fight turns out to be a classic, there's always that sense of anti-climax. As to the overall issue then no, I don't think a new code of conduct needs to b...

Re: Joe Calzaghe : Has Froch's leagacy now overtaken Joe's ?

As far as standard of competition goes, I struggle to think of any British fighter ever who can match the run of Carl Froch so I don't consider it a slight against Joe Calzaghe to suggest that his resume doesn't even come close. The trail that Froch has blazed through the SMW division in recent year...

Re: Tonight's Boxing

I haven't seen the KO but it sounds like it was a bad one. Really thought Price would do the business beforehand. Does this rule him out of any future title contention, or can he still be a world champion with careful matchmaking? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCCxnP4Nf9E&feature=youtube_gdat...

Re: Thoughts on Tonight

Just watched his post fight interview and I'm totally gutted for him. He needs to be guided and protected now as he won't be in a good place for a while. Agreed. Didn't actually hear what was being said (was in a crowded pub) but Hatton looked an absolute picture of human anguish. Considering that ...

Re: Who has the better record: Froch or Calzaghe

I voted for Froch. Like many, I would favour Calzaghe to grind out a UD if they had met in their respective primes but what I'm not so sure of is how JC would have coped if faced with the constant stream of top tier opposition that Carl has faced.

Re: Calzaghe v ward, who wins ?

After seeing how (relatively) easily Ward got through the Super Six, I'd definitely favour him. Aside from the B Hop like strategies Ward would probably bring to the fight, I also think Calzaghe might have a problem with Ward's sheer physical strength. He manhandled Kessler, Bika and even Froch in a...

Re: Enzo on Enzo Interview

If Enzo (Calzaghe) has always believed that Enzo Mac should've been fighting as a light-heavyweight, why has he left it until now to do something about it? Or if he has tried to suggest the move-down previously, why has Enzo Mac ignored him? Call me a cynic but I believe this to be an exercise in s...

Re: Wow!! you could cut the atmos with a knife....

The taking a knee line of questioning wasn't designed to insult Cotto, it looked to me as though Max was trying to get Cotto to say Margarito was unnaturaly powerful, ie that his handwraps were doctored for their fight and that he'd never been hit that hard before. Basically trying to stir up a bit...

Re: What Happened To Delboy?

Tyson Fury just looked to have too much size and physical strength, I lost count of the times he was able to walk Chisora down, pin him in the corner and reset the action on his terms. There were occasions when Chisora's explosiveness looked as though it might get him out of trouble and perhaps if h...

Re: Khan's legacy better than Hattons?

Ricky Hatton's legacy is better right now and unlike others, I do feel that the cultural impact he made can be included as a factor. Towards the end of his career, no British fighter since Frank Bruno had to fight with the weight of such expectation on their shoulders as Ricky did. Amir Khan could g...

And with all due respect sir, you're just sounding like another gloater overindulging in vindication.

You professed that Haye wasn't as good as the hype suggested, you were right, enjoy.

Re: Sky report Klitschko has offered Haye a rematch?

To be honest, I couldn't bear another six-months of hype for what would probably be another mismatch. Ironically, if it wasn't for all the hype, (especially considering his supposed fragility) I believe that David Haye would be getting props for a decent showing against a much larger man. I'm amaze...

Re: The Big One: Haye V Klitschko predictions

Wladmir by KO, he's far too big, skilled and hard hitting in my opinion. I know Haye IS heavy-handed but don't think he packs the quite same sort of wallop as a Sanders or a Brewster up at HW.

Would love to be proven wrong though, best of luck Hayemaker

I can guarantee if Haye wins this fight in style, outside of hardcore boxing circles, all of the criticism he has faced in this country will vanish overnight.

Re: 'World Class!' Where exactly does is start?

I don't think Ricky Hatton was ever a complete fighter which is possibly why both of his losses were so crushingly emphatic (judging by some of his interviews he'd be the first to agree that defence wasn't his strongest attribute) but the things that he did do effectively were good enough to earn hi...

Re: Amir Khan: Plan his next 18 months

3rd week July: vs Breidis Prescott - UNDISPUTED title I like to see fighters avenge their losses as much as anyone else but in certain scenarios it's inappropriate. Prescott had his chances off the back of that win and he's blown them. No fooking way should it get him a shot at an undisputed title....

Re: Where would a Prime Bruno be ranked in todays HW Division?

I think Bruno would have done about as well today as he did back in the eighties/nineties. Theoretically he had the tools to knock out someone like Haye, or even Wlad but I just get the feeling that he would fall short in either case, whilst making a very respectable account of himself. As for Vital...

what I don't understand is how Darren got done in in the first place. I would have thought he'd drop 2 or 3 of them hard and the rest of the shIthouses would have bottled it. That doesn't do him a massive amount of good either because then you've got a thoroughbred race-horse cracking his knuckles ...

Re: do we really want to see khan presscott

Khan in my opinion should just concentrate on keeping his belt. The Prescott defeat won't really mean anything unless Amir's CV ever reaches the point of distinguishing him as a truly great fighter. A rematch at this stage would be foolhardy because: a) The top end of the 140 division is stacked wit...
