Re: USA vs. Italy in Reno

What's going on. I'm Wynten's uncle. Wynten has a elbow injury that has kept him out of the ring for about 9 months. They were too late to sign him up for the Indiana GG, so he's in the Chicago GGs. He won the first fight with a stoppage in the 2nd rd, and won the 2nd with a stopage in the 1st roun...

I was wondering the same thing. I really like him and was hoping he would get lots of experience and get a medal in the next Olympics. :bag:

Re: USA vs. Italy in Reno

Lenroy Thompson lost to Cammarelle 10-18. Team USA lost to Italy 4-7. Well judging by the point total it looks like Lenroy had a pretty respectable showing considering the opponent but its hard to tell by the computer scoring. At least he landed some punches the judges counted. Its too bad we haven...

Re: USA vs. Italy in Reno

Ray - are you boxing in the IN GG? I read that Lucies lost. How about that young guy at 178 Wynten Ellis, is he in the tourney this year? Sorry I am taking so long to get back. I accidentally fell asleep. No, I'm not boxing in the IN GG. I have been working 60+ hours per week and with the 7 kids an...

Re: USA vs. Italy in Reno

Ok. I'm interested to see how Lenroy Thompson does. I know he has a unique style so maybe he can give Cammarelle some problems. I know it's unlikely but you never know. Styles make fights.

Re: Anyone going to the Arnold Invitational?

I went last year and it is a huge event. The Arnold Classic is a huge event. The boxing is only a tiny part of it. The boxing was in a giant room and there was like 20 different events all going on at once in the same venue. It was unlike any other tournament I have been to. There were some good box...

Re: Michael Smith's United States Senior Rankings

I watched the fight live on the internet stream. I thought Jordan clearly outpointed Kisner. It was not a blowout but it was not controversial either  .

Re: 2009 World Cup of Petroleum Countries

I think government support is the wrong way to go. Yes, it would make it easier for the boxers to train, take off work, and so on if there were more money to throw at boxing. But, the federal government does not have the money either. Especially right now. Almost everything the government does now i...

Re: Age Limit?

I think it may be more for the protection of the older boxers than the younger ones. Most people once they hit 35 are on the downslide as far as athletic prowess goes. Yes, there are exceptions, but generally it is true. There are not many boxers who are 35+ years old that are good enough to even h...

Re: Age Limit?

Most athletic competitive sports have an age component to their definition of "amateur" status and I agree with it and the logic behind it - especially in sports where you can earn a living from being paid to do it. Older boxers should either hang up the gloves, compete against others the...

Re: Age Limit?

I think it is a form of discrimination. It is similar in some ways to them not allowing females to box in the Olympics. Now, they are going to allow the females box. Will they have a truly inclusive Olympics and eliminate the age limit for boxing? No, because it would only affect a tiny percentage o...

Re: Representing Indiana In Akron, Ohio Next Weekend In USA Reg.

Actually I don't know many of the names. Eric Draper at 141 and myself (Ray Stallings) at 201. Those are the only ones I am pretty certain about. I don't think we have a super-heavyweight. Maybe Kyle Moxley at 106 and should be Wynten Ellis at 178.

What happened to Ray Stallings? Did he enter the Indiana GG? Is he still boxing? Hey Dennis, yeah I started boxing again after about a year and a half off. I started my own gym and began training some guys with my coach but then wanted to again pursue a goal I set a long time ago to win the NGG. I ...

Re: Indiana Glolden Gloves, What A Joke.....

I heard a lot of the crowd booing but I didn't see any security after the decision. Like I said some of the people I was with truly thought that Lucies boxed well and deserved the win, but I'm still in agreement that Lucies got a gift.
