Re: An "Ask The Answerman" Article By Herb Goldman That I Hated

Clearly a very poor taste at sarcasm by Mr. Goldman, Many years ago, someone asked that same thing to me and I thought the same thing after cooling off. But it really should not have been published. Nigel Collins, whom I believe was head Editor at the time, should have said "No." It create...

Re: The Stoppage of Chavez-Taylor I (18 Years Later)

In all these years,

Has it ever been determined what Duva was yelling to Taylor during Steele's manatory 8 count and his "Are you OK? Are you OK?" questions?

The Stoppage of Chavez-Taylor I (18 Years Later)

One of the most remembered fights was Chavez-Taylor I. Taylor out-boxed the Mexican legend with amazing jabs and counter-shots with incredible precision and footwork. But Chavez came on with hard body shots and pressure in the last 4 rounds of the fight. One of the most widely debated calls of all t...

Dreamfight: Trinidad vs. Margarito! Who Wins?

It certainly would be the fight to talk about! If only we could turn back the clock about 5 years for Tito, what a great match that would have been! It's too bad that the fight last night didn't happen say 5 years ago with a prime Trinidad! In a dreamfight situation with Tito-Margarito, I would take...

Revisiting Abraham-Miranda I (Showtime Rebroadcast)

I was very pleased that Showtime chose to rebroadcast Abraham-Miranda I. For those who haven't seen it, it is not the original German Broadcast, but with Al Bernstein and Steve Albert calling the action. I only wish that Showtime would have covered this fight live. I wonder why they did not at the t...

Please Correct the Information For Barrera-Juarez I

Please note,

BOX REC still lists judge Anek Hongtongkam's scorecard as 115-114 for Barrera when he actually carded 115-113 for Barrera. (It was judges Duane Ford and Ken Morita who submitted even 12th round scorecards for 115-114 Barrera (Morita) and 115-114 Juarez (Ford.)

What is the correct Tabulation for Barrera-Juarez?

Guys, The original announcement of the draw 114-114 (Morita), 115-113 Barrera ( Hontenkamn), 115-114 Juarez (Ford) was changed about 10 minutes later to: 114-115 Barrera (Morita) 115-114 Juarez (Ford) 115-113 Barrera (Hontenkamn) Now, Boxrec is reporting that Thi judge Anek Hontenkamn had scored the...

I did not know that the EBU was based in Italy. If so, this could have inflenced the outcome. Or could the officals, although none from Italy have gone so far in the opposite direction against Kelly to avoid hometown favoritism? It appears that these three saw a fight that no one else saw. I talked ...

Guys, Going on memory 116-112 Lennox Lewis. From what I could recall, the only clear round that Holyfield won was the 3rd. I think I also gave him three very close rounds, the 6th, 10th, and 11th. But I can't see him taking more than 4 rounds. Jeff Ryan of KO Magazine had it a draw and maybe 5 other...

Post The Offical Scorcards For Escalera-Everett in Database

Guys, Just saw Escalera-Everett for the first time. For years and years I thought it was the robbery of the century. Having just watched it however, amazingly the Philadelphia announcers and myself saw a MUCH closer fight than I had been led to believe for years and years. However, it was still a te...

Charlie "White Lightning" Brown Incorrect Record

Guys,

The date for Charlie "White Lightning" Brown's record is wrong with regards to the Frank Newton fight. This match was on the undercard of Hagler-Duran, which was on November 10, 1983. Box Rec has the match as having talken place that weekend.

Need Help With Controversal ESPN Fight

Guys, What was that fight back in March of 1983 on ESPN that they featured on "ESPN 10 and Counting" that had some fighter go down at least 5 times. All the trips to the canvas were called "slips" by the hometown ref. Due to the fact that judges could not overturn the ref and sco...

Hagler-Hamsho II Info Incorrect!

Hi Guys Just a note that the Hagler-Hamsho II fight was scheduled for 15 rounds and not 12 rounds as the forum indicates. Recall that the WBA/IBF still had 15-rounds at that time. The WBC had 12 rounds since Jaunary of 1983, but was ammendable to a compramise when Hagler defended all three title bel...

Rocchigiani - Michalczewski I. Don't remember the ref's name, he was as fat as he was incompetent. Rocky hit Michalczewski after the "break" signal from the ref (which was indeed hard to hear) with a soft right hand. What followed was a Zab Judah-like dance performance of Michalczewski wh...

Deuk-Koo Kim Question?

Guys,

The forum results for Byrd-Oquendo needs a mention of how aweful this decision was. IMHO, this decision ranks up there with the all-time worst. This was comperable to Holyfield-Lewis I and the fight result should reflect this in the database.

One other minor note. You have Spinks being stripped for giving Ali a rematch instead of fighting the WBC mandate against Norton, which is correct.
