I was told by Roberto Duran in April that Laguna's health is bad. I was in contact with someone close to Laguna to get copies of a book written about him signed and he can't even sign his name. He's been in a bad way for a while.

Bowe-Golota II might be my favorite. Certainly top three, probably along with Foreman-Lyle and Holyfield-Bowe I.

Re: If the Great Salvador Sanchez Would Have Not Died: What were His Chances in Boxing History?
I wonder how serious the talk of a bout with Arguello really was. At the time of his fatal crash, Sanchez was training for a rematch with Juan LaPorte, and AA had already moved to 140, and the proposed super fight was definitely off. There was also talk of a rematch with Wilfredo Gomez and a bout w...

Re: If the Great Salvador Sanchez Would Have Not Died: What were His Chances in Boxing History?
I'm a huge Sanchez fan, he's on my Mount Rushmore of personal favorites, but I tend to think other fans of his tend to get carried away. I had an event recently and someone asked about what would happen if Sanchez had jumped up and fought Arguello and I said he'd have lost, and one guy who's really ...

Re: Larry Holmes and dementia
I saw Holmes last October and while not the most talkative guy in the world, I didn't see or hear anything that would suggest he has it in any bad way. I've seen fighters with bad dementia and it's sad.

Hey buddy what's wrong with you?.Eder Jofre #1.He never said "No Mas" in the ring. Hey Roger, I can see an argument for either guy. I think Duran had more bad moments, but I do think he has one or two more "wow" moments, like the Leonard win. I regard both among the best d...

Carlos Zarate's loss against Wilfredo Gomez comes to mind as does Ruben Olivares's KO defeat to Rafael Herrera for the bantamweight title.

Re: Felix Trinidad @ 147
He couldn't make weight anymore. He had a terrible time making it against Whitaker, but stuck around for the De La Hoya mega payday. If he would have stayed at 154, I think he would likely have retired unbeaten because that weight was perfect for him and he no longer had to drain himself plus he'd g...

Roger, you are right about Carlos. Next time you go to Mexico City let me know and he will greet you and take you around. He's very hospitable like that. He still lives in Tepito. When you are here in March for the WCBHOF, make sure you get his contact info. I will be hosting another event at the Ar...

Re: Carlos Zarate-are there phantom bouts on his record ?
I'm friends with Zarate and talk to him a lot. I'll be seeing him in March, I will ask him. Easier to ask such a question face to face I feel than over the phone. Zarate is a very honest guy, even if the truth isn't flattering to him and I've never heard the story. I do know that Mike DeLisa said on...

Rafael Marquez belongs. Froch & Bradley, IMO, should only get in with a ticket. Michael Nunn, Israel Vazquez, Ivan Calderon, Pongsaklek Wonjongkam, Gilberto Roman, Dariusz Michalczewski, Santos Laciar amongst others, far more deserving.
