Re: Junior World Team Usa

Scallum that is good news but Italian team isn't that good either but for young kids good job anyway! Not sure how good Italian team is but I think they did a lil better than Team Usa at Olympics 2012? I hear the Italian team lacks speed Italy, in London, got two Silvers and a Bronze in Men's boxin...

Re: USA National Coach Named

Best wishes to Coach Joe and USA Boxing! This is a good choice...the personal coach built the kid, developed the kid, and the kid respects their home coach. Joe Zanders respects and appreciates all personal coaches and truly believes they are part of the team, and an important part of helping the at...

Re: DESERT SHOWDOWN FAVORITISM TO SO CAL FIGHTERS

Mel, I, for one, do not believe the southern CA judges were biased against the northern CA fighters. My observation was simply that a group of 2 or 3 southern CA clubs(gyms) benifited from biased judging in Ring 1 ( sometimes even against other sourthern CA gyms, other states, etc, not only Northern...

Re: DESERT SHOWDOWN FAVORITISM TO SO CAL FIGHTERS

Believe me, some SoCal gyms fell victim to the same mystery, when they were up against that same clique of gyms from L.A. It just wasnt a level playing field. Its too bad too, because the beneficiary gyms are actually pretty good without the help, and have some pretty skilled boxers. It was getting ...

Re: DESERT SHOWDOWN FAVORITISM TO SO CAL FIGHTERS

it wasnt all So CAL fighters getting favoritism, just 2 or 3 gyms from LA. It was pretty awful and very unfair. I understand parents werent allowed to judge their own child, but they were allowed to judge their childs teammates. So riddle me this,....if a bout is "close" and you know the l...

Re: CSAC Suspends All Amateur Boxing in California

well that email was addressed to LBC boardmembers and leadership, but oh well, no big secrets once your out on the web. With that in mind, however, I don't know that name calling is going to help anything. As an update: the CSAC and USA Boxing are in contact and coming up with a solution to get the ...

Re: Rules on Private Shows,Alcohol,Ring Girls,Ect. at shows?

Actually, so that everyone knows, The Board of Governors last fall ( before I was president) made a motion, voted, and passed that anyone having alcohol and ringcard girls at their show must disclose that in their event flyer so that the clubs can choose wether or not to take their kids. After that ...

Re: Womens World

OK...im confused. If Sylvia didn't go to the GG, how did she qualify for the Pan Ams? If she didn't make weight for the Pan Ams, how did that ualify her for the Worlds? The AIBA site list her on the USA roster, but not in the draw. USA's website initiaally listed her as being on the team. Not to tal...

Womens World

The Womens World Championships started, they got the live scoring up. Also, the entries from around the world and the draws. Anybody know what happened to our pinweight? It shows her as entered, then she's not in the draw. USA Boxing website initially said we had Sylvia Villapando going at 101, but ...

Re: Anyone have first day results of......

TB, I agree with you on the Han v Manuel bout. Stephanie had an outstanding fourth round in her semifinal big win over Carry Barry. She and her sisters are all sweethearts and good boxers, but she wasnt even close against Patricia Manuel. I lost count of how many over hand rights and clean left hook...

what about?

Quality picks for 2004, but couldn't help notice a couple of California kids left off everyone's list: at 125, southpaw Jose Perez Jr., he's already defeated Bey and Garcia before, with strong 4th round finishes. Can't count him out in that tough weight class. at 152, speedy Timothy Bradley., curren...
