Many times it was whos manager got to the phone first. Sportswriters from competing papers each had pet fighters especially if it was a hometown fighter and some were not above taking a few dollars for a nod in their direction.

Tony was a short hvywt with short arms. Chuck was a tall man with a long reach. If he gets by 4 or 5 rds Chuck has a good chance for a points win. Tony would be out of gas ....
