Re: New Book: Baer-Campbell fight / Campbell bio

I was going to buy this book until I had a conversation with the author on social media and she was as big of a pos as she alleges Baer is, incredibly rude and aggressive to a potential customer, so no chance would I buy it now. As for all the research she did, your a writer, that’s what you meant t...

Just offering some balance dude. I rate John's opinion although I doubt Ben Doughty's ability to write a decent book.

Was James Scott ever ranked number one by the WBA?

Was Scott ranked number one by the WBA and then dropped from the rankings at a later date? Or this an urban myth? Eddie Mustafa Muhmammed (then Eddie Gregory) was ranked number one by the WBA at the time Scott beat him from what I've read.

Re: David Price retires

I've never understood why he took the Thompson rematch straight away. Losing it meant it was a long, long way back for him. I've heard an interview with Kellie Maloney where she said she got out of boxing when fighters started listening to their lawyers instead of their managers. Was she referring t...

Re: New J. Russell Peltz book "30 Dollars and a Cut Eye" OUT NOW!

I just got finished reading Peltzer's book last night after an unusually long time,at least for me, when it comes to finishing cover to cover. The many short chapters are fast paced snapping off the pages like rapier jabs. Peltzer has a back round in journalism and knows how to apply a Jimmy Cannon ...

Re: The Marvelous One has died

A true legend and an all-time great, what a legacy he leaves. I am reminded of the quote from the late sportswriter Jimmy Cannon (I think it was him) when he heard of Rocky Marciano's death, "Just start counting ten over him, he'll soon get up."

RIP Champ.

Re: Wladimir Klitschko in black and white footage

He refused to believe the men on the shaky reels were the men he had seen fight in the flesh. They moved nothing like the three-dimensional versions, and he was convinced they were bums who had been mistakenly credited as the great fighters. It seems obvious that the limitations of the technology t...

Wladimir Klitschko in black and white footage

I remember some years ago, somebody on these forums posted a video of a Wladimir Klitschko fight which had been produced in black and white and then edited to look as though frames had been cut from it. The reason was to make it look like film from the 1910/1920’s, to demonstrate that fighters from ...

Can anyone recognise this book?

I am trying to recall a book I once owned. It was a bit like Boxing Babylon by Nigel Collins, there was a lot of content about former champs who had fell on hard times. I remember a chapter about a boxer who was living in poverty and cut his hand trying to open a can of food with his bare hands. Can...
