Re: Fury deadlift on Ringside

Watching Ringside tonight with the Fury segment and it showed him doing a deadlift. I calculated that the weight was 230kg on the assumption the plates on each side were 2 x 25kg, 2 x 20, 1 x 10, 1 x 5kg = 105kg x two sides plus the bar which is 20kg Now he struggled to pull that up and I appreciat...

Re: best fighter you've seen box in the flesh

Floyd without a doubt pure talent wise.

loved Barrera and saw him fight a few times, and have seen Marquez a number of times as well as Pacquiao, Hamed, Benn, Eubank, Oscar etc

but Floyd is the best.

Re: Froch comments on Gavin (Paddy) Fitzpatrick

Groves' interviews are just excruciating viewing. They always have been from the time he was calling out people from a park bench in Hammersmith on YouTube. Unfortunately he's not the brightest of buttons, but thinks he is and likes to run his mouth. Carl is hardly brain of Britain but totally had h...

live out in America now, so i've been struggling with this all day. I got to know Dean over the last couple of years and given that i'm just another boxing fan, he's been incredibly good to me, always had time for people and i've never seen anyone work so hard or be so committed in such a behind the...

Re: Matchroom Announcement??

it seems to be rumoured to be Lopez, who is NOT a big name fighter. He's been in with some top guys but apart from Ortiz' jaw busting, Maidana beat him well and Canelo destroyed him. I still think he's a small Welterweight and whilst the hardcore fans will know him from his last 3 fights, to call hi...

Re: Barry Hearn interview

The channel is a subscription channel and is decent value for armchair boxing fans; the PPV concept is generally a rip off given that we pay a subscription on top. Football, rugby or cricket fans would not have it.
remember they tried it with football for a while for big games . Did not work...

Re: Barry Hearn interview

Just to stick my pennies worth in to those slating promoters .... I know its not the same with me being an "unlicensed " promoter but i still feel i can offer a point of view in opposition . Its seen as if Promoters are all there to just make money and that they do make a fair bit of it ....

Damian, I honestly believe this wont be PPV nor do i believe it needs to be . Weve had lesser fights as ppv in the past but in the current climate sky arent so keen , if this was ppv it wouldnt look good on sky who said only the top fi...

Re: Froch Vs Groves ordered by IBF

So lets face it, Froch won't want to dip to under £1m per fight now, Groves would get probably £200k maybe for this fight as the challenger bringing virtually nothing to the table (still a great purse) - all that's much more realistic with PPV. Froch Kessler had international money, Denmark PPV, so...

Re: Barry Hearn interview

Goldenears I disagree with a few of your points. First off Burns v Gonzalez. It was a mandatory, if your the WBO champ and the WBO tell you that you have a mandatory defence then you HAVE to face that guy or lose your title. And he would have HAD to fight Gonzalez whether he was with Hearn or wheth...

Re: Barry Hearn interview

Hard to argue against any of that in fairness. I think ultimately regardless of who 'the chosen one' is, this is just the way boxing is and will continue to be in the UK. Fighters will come and go but at the end of the day Frank and Barry/Eddie will always be involved and whoever has fights on Sky ...

Re: Reasons why Broner won't last at the top.

Frankie has all the boxing ability IMHO, far more naturally gifted skill wise than Broner, and I've a feeling he might give me a furious reply to this, but unless he transformed himself physically, I think Broner would be too much for him. At the next level up those fighters have incredible conditio...

Re: Barry Hearn interview

All valid points; however Frank, Ricky Hatton and others had the chance to do what Matchroom now do for Sky before they gave them the contract - and they fucked it up. That isn't coincidence. Yes, the Sky deal is clearly a massive part of Matchroom Boxing's success but they aren't the first to have...

Did you not see the Barry Hearn interview...ops!!! He basically said Sky do not push for PPV, they have been stung before, look at the back lash they got from Haye v Harrison. I would imagine Matchroom have to guarantee a percentage successful or not. yep but basically once you go onto PPV Platform...

Re: Froch Vs Groves ordered by IBF

Like I say, I don't think the joint purse would be 1.5mill, I don't even think it would be 1 million. And there is more income than just the seating and sky tv, there would be income from sponsorship and foreign tv as well. Not saying it would be Showtime or HBO in America or huge channels in other ...

Im of the belief that all promoters are toss jockeys to a certain degree. DMA1987, I know you think I hate Eddie Hearn and I can understand why as I do give him stick on here. It's not that I hate him, it's just that when he first came onto the scene, he was saying how he wanted to make boxing main...

Quick question mate. Would you rather the Hearns or FWP be on top? Which would be best for boxing? For all the ranting about how they are the same - they aren't are they? Ask the boxers. not sure if that is aimed at me but as my rant was the last one, i'll offer my opinion. I'd rather neither were ...

The Hearns have done a fantastic job with darts. Not going to deny it. But when it comes to boxing, their current standing is all down to the decision Sky made to allow a monopoly on their channel and basically funded it. Eddie and Matchroom have used that position very smartly to their advantage t...

I looked up DN's record after the fight as I thought he made Joe look relatively ordinary and was shocked as his record - that's not what I'm used to seeing from a so called "journeyman". Wanted to fight and came with skills and a lot more. Joe needs activity and maybe, like Joe Selkirk, h...

Hearn ''I believe we can bring Adrien Broner to Scotland'' proof that he's believing his own twitter avatar. What a balloon. Like HBO are seriously going to take daddy's boy seriously and say "yes Eddie, thanks for bringing little Gav for Adrien to beat up, we'll bring our whole operati...

Re: Q for Billy Nelson - why is Ricky not fighting Broner?

Burns just didn't want the broner fight. Can't blame him, as he knows it would be a difficult fight he would probably lose. I'd imagine the Rees hiding was the fight where burns decided to swerve broner for good. Business and survival wise can see why they would swerve Broner, and also the things I...
