Re: someone help me understand

Guys who are deemed slow are not actually as slow as you might think if you were to watch them live from ringside.

Re: Where Do You Rank Sugar Ray Leonard in the Pound per Pound All Time List?

The Ali or Monzon debate is a great one. On paper, Ali has my vote, but on video, it's Monzon. Using 1976 as an example, I thought Young and Norton beat Ali. I thought Monzon clearly "looked" the better man in 1976. 1977, too.

Re: Abner Mares vs Junto Nakatani

Nakatani might have too much size for Mares. Very tough bout. Reminds me a bit of Zarate-Davila.

Re: Brandon Moore vs Stanley Wright

Wright has serious conditioning issues. He was blowing hard after a tame round 1. Lousy bout.

Re: Mike McCallum RIP

Historian Art Rust Jr. went on the air shortly after the first Kalambay bout and stated that MCCallum threw the bout. Rust was of partly Jamaican descent and had huge respect and admiration for MCCallum so his comment was shocking.

Re: Jeff Fenech versus Vasiliy Lomachenko

I'd argue that Nelson was pound for pound better than anyone Fenech met at 118 and 122. If he loses to Loma it's not due to weight.

Salido wasn't near welterweight on the scales, he re-hydrated to welter.

Re: Accidental (or not) Illegal Head Shots

I'd say they are rarely done on purpose. Your point about a guy ducking into a shot is the key, I believe. A sort of "reckless defense" is often to blame.

Re: A Question about Ray Robinson's chin

Yes, he has. But you framed his argument by using the word "magically". he's not contending that boxing got better all at once, as if by "magic". I agree with you that he's wrong but you should at least refute his actual argument.

ESPN plus card

Did anyone watch tonight's card from Canada ? Horrendous mismatches- like watching batting practice. 6 bouts, 6 duds.

Marshall -based on what I've read about him. The weight he gave up o Maxim, 166 to 187, can't be overemphasized.

Re: Vasiliy Lomachenko has Retired!

To me, Loma is overrated. He wasn't Willie Pep or Sugar Ray Leonard. I hold the Teofimo Lopez bout against him because he could have won that bout. I thought Salido edged him but the weight and Salido's fouls mitigate the loss. Overall, he was excellent but not a legendary great, imo.

Re: Accidental (or not) Illegal Head Shots

I agree 100 percent that accidental punches to the back of the head are a problem. Sometimes, a guy who is already hurt and getting battered will be caught with one and go down.

Sugar Ray Leonard's record as an amateur

A lot of amateur bouts are missing from this site's page on SRL; he was listed as 145-5 with 75 ko's . Does anyone have a complete list of all of his amateur bouts ?

Re: A Question about Ray Robinson's chin

I believe that overall the fighters of the 40's were better than the guys from the 60's. So, I disagree strongly with his "primitive" argument. Having said that, why do you suggest that he thinks boxing "magically" got better ?That's not his contention at all. He's arguing that i...

Re: Mike McCallum RIP

I had Toney 116-112 in the first MCCallum bout and I've seen it a few times. I watched the second bout on television but have never re-watched it. That's on the agenda. I remember thinking Toney earned the nod.
