Was Ellis Zorro Top-50 Ranked Before today?
Hi Everybody- very random narrow question to follow: I always try to capture the rankings of top-50 fighters right before they fight, but I was a bit late doing so this week, and the Ellis Zorro-Hosea Burton fight had already happened by the time I looked. The rankings update more or less immediatel...

Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
I've gotta say I'm really surprised at the extended silence about all these issues. Usually when there's a controversy about an update, they'll discuss it with us and either tweak it or defend the decisions.
In this case the site was brutally butchered, and it's like the comms are in lockdown.

Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
I love that upcoming fights now display the current ranking of each fighter.
Unfortunately nearly every other change that's been made seems almost as if it was designed specifically to frustrate everything I come here to do.

Re: Ratings - please read before commenting
Yeah....I like the fact that it shows current rankings for fighters in upcoming fights on the schedule now, as that saves me clicks in not having to click on every 15-0 figher to see if they've earned a decent ranking. I don't like that ratings points have been scrubbed (looked at a fight involving ...

Incorrect details for DuBois-Mendouo
On this fight: https://boxrec.com/en/event/745702/2155346 the fight details claim Mendouo was dropped in the first round, but says nothing about a second round KD. I thought I might have been going crazy in that I didn't remember a first round knockdown immediately after the fight. Went back and wat...

Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
all guys ranked as bridgers by wbc should be rated as hws here, my opinion FYI Bilal Laggoune is no longer ranked at Bridger. Should he not be back in the rankings now at cruiser? Ditto for Isaac Chamberlain. Jerry Forrest is also out of the rankings, so he should be back at HW, along with Alexande...

Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
Strongly disagree with your idea. You're basing a significant portion of what separates one fighter from another (especially at a mid-level) on winning title fights. First, I think it's nonsensical to base someone's objective value on something as subjective as even a high-level alphabet title. But ...

Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
Regarding Bridgerweight and Forrest. It isn't a ratings issue - it is politics. Just look at his points in his record. The points are Heavyweight points. Could you expand on the political problem to help us understand? Is it that you would offend the WBC by calling their Bridgerweight top contender...

This thread is only the right place for discussing issues and ideas regarding the ratings algorithm. The right place for discussing issues with weight divisions and politics is here https://boxrec.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=94835 Thanks. I did actually try to post there first, but it is show...

Re: Ratings - please read before commenting
The Bridgerweight thing makes zero sense. Rank them as Heavyweights. The end. Yeah that would probably simplify it even more. I mean I do think a guy like Bilal Laggoune who is pretty clearly a cruiserweight ought to be a cruiserweight, but if you don't want to get in the business of scrutinizing e...

Could inactivity standards be made adjustable?
I doubt this is the first time this has ever been brought up, but the increased inactivity from COVID (even though it's close to being back to normal) got me thinking: Would it be reasonably plausible to implement an option to view the rankings with different inactivity standards applied? So in othe...

Re: Jerry Forrest
It's probably been a while since he beat anyone decent, but he just got draws vs. Zhang and Hunter and still isn't ranked. Does he need to have a win before he's ranked? Jerry Forrest presents himself as #16 WBC Bridgerweight. Bridgerweights (neither Heavyweight nor Cruiserweight) cannot be ranked ...

Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
Boxrec always shows the age in the boxer profile, if the date of birth is known. I just did a quick check. Yes, I found the age listed in many cases. But in many other instances, there was no age or DOB. This is in contrast to the way that Boxrec's system worked in the past, when age and DOB were a...

Incorrect Result
I was just watching this Azteca-broadcasted fight from 2017, and the result (RTD at 3:00 of Rd 3) is incorrect. https://boxrec.com/en/event/745119/2139222 It was a TKO at 1:26 of round 3 (and a bad stoppage, in my view). I think the last time I found one of these, I had to post a private video on yo...

Jerry Forrest active but not ranked?
Hi- on the profile for Heavyweight Jerry Forrest (who just fought last weekend), he has no ranking. He's listed as active, but still no ranking. I've also looked over the Heavyweight top-100, and he's not listed. I noticed this before his fight with Zhang this past weekend, also, and he wasn't ranke...

Re: Ratings - please read before commenting
Hi computerrank, I normally make a list of fights involving top-50 fighters in certain divisions before they happen and the ranks of the fighters at the time, but I fell asleep this weekend and didn't get around to it in time. If you get a chance, would you mind telling me the rankings of the follo...

Re: Chauncey Welliver scaled 378 lb !!
I ended up getting busy with my career and had to put it on the backburner. Actually just got back on track to get my license as of a few weeks ago, actually. Sounds like it'll be soon if all goes to plan.

Re: Chauncey Welliver scaled 378 lb !!
I personally know Chauncy he is a great fighter and I have fought him twice and he is always gonna battle weight as I have and do but he is one of the nicest guys and from the looks you would think he would get tired but the guy is a great fighter with surprising stamina but he has to get his weigh...

Re: Ratings - please read before commenting
The new system is the best it's ever been. Especially the all-time rankings. I wouldn't bother with parallel rating options, it just overcomplicates things. Just use the system that best predicts results. If you have multiple rating options, you're just going to get tons of bettors coming to the fo...

Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
I don't use a VPN, and while I probably log in just about every day, I think it's unlikely that I'm logged in anything like always, since it does make me log in pretty frequently when I show back up. That said, I do probably leave my browser window open more often than not for long periods. I never ...
