No less an authority than Thomas Hauser scored it for Burns.

Re: Ricky Hatton vs Amir Khan @ 140
People really underrate exactly how good Hatton was. Mayweather struggled to keep at range never mind Khan! Hatton was also THE champion at 140 for years and has the exact style Khan struggles with. Straightforward win for the hitman.

Re: Mayweather vs Berto
I think there's always a fair bit of dodgy analysis when it comes to evaluating Mayweather. Is he really that safety first? E.g. he dominated and was extremely aggressive V Canelo and Cotto. The claim he handpicks opponents is a bit harsh as well. In his late career flurry he's fought and completely...

Re: It's the beginning if the end for fast Eddie interms of being a top International Promoter
I'd bet the end game for Haymon is for PBC to become a UFC style organisation with its own PBC titles etc. I'd also bet thats the real reason Mayweather plans to vacate his titles and wouldnt be surprised at all to see him pop up in September with the first PBC belt.

Re: Birmingham and Texas discussion thread
I had Burns a point up even after the deductions. I cant think of a clear quality punch Figueroa landed. It was similar in some ways to Brook Porter except Burns landed more than 4 times.

Re: Am I the only one who enjoyed the fight?
It panned out as i expected in terms of it being a Mayweather UD. But the fight was poor. Pacqiuao's display was dreadful. He's had 5 years to think abot this and really didn't offer anything, not even really much effort. I thin k its legitimate to also be disappointed with Mayweather. He was so com...

Re: Burns to get shot at Fig
Like most here I think Burns would have handled him easily a couple of years ago, but going on recent form this can only end badly for Ricky. With all due respect I disagree totally. Burns has had more gift decisions than Sven ottke. He beat a poor katsidas and Kevin Mitchell who blows hot and cold...

If there's no title and its at 140 I just don't see where the value here is for Burns. He can be getting paid that much.

Re: Refs jumping in too early
Another the thing that gets me about safety in boxing is the utter futility of ring side doctors. Burns-Beltran is a good example of a fighter that definitely shouldnt have been fighting on. If its the case that I can spot that from my couch 4 cobras in what the hell is the doctor doing?

Re: Refs jumping in too early
Further then this can anyone give me an example of a fighter who was badly in trouble in the early rounds and Jen got stopped late and was injured? I think this really misses the point about the nature of how fighters get injured. If a boxer gets buzzed, feels dizzy, is unsteady on his feet etc tha...

Re: Allegedly wins latest court battle against Burns
No point being angry at the lawyers. Its inconceivable that in a case as complex as this, with lawyers as prestigious as those Burns has, that anyone ever told him he would 100% win or that he was warned what losing could cost. He threw the dice and lost. A more pertinent question is what a top leve...

Re: FW loses £2m lawsuit against Ricky Burns
There is so much that is just wrong about this. If Burns's claim that Warren asked him to sign a contract minutes before a fight is true that is utterly disgusting. I'd have pulled off the gloves and went straight to the Adam smith to explain why i wouldn't be fighting. Furthermore what the hell is ...

This is a daft one but Alex Arthur really didnt fight at world level despite being clearly good enough. When he did get somewhere near it it was far too late.

Re: Kell vs Khan
The whole "X will catch Khan and KO him" has an element of truth but its too simplistic. For a start it ignores Khan is an exceptional offensive fighter. He was doing a serious job on Garcia before the bingo punch and he's also floored Peterson and Maidana in the 1st round. It also ignores...

The opponents haven't been good enough for me to make GGG a favourite against Froch. This is all based on Daniel Geale who was beaten by Barker who in turn lasted a millisecond against an 800 billion year-old Sturm.
