Re: Sturm vs Macklin: Your scorecard

Shouted for Matt like he's a brother, but scored the fight 115-113. Gave Macklin 1, 2, 4, 5, 9 or something along those lines... Sturm's shots were more effective, and while he doesn't get points for covering, he did negate a lot of Macklin's best shots. Macklin was hit with the cleanest shots in th...

John Murray v Kevin Mitchell

Ads around the edge of the arena after the fight ended showed this in the ExCel on July 9th... and on SKY BOX OFFICE!!?!?!?

Is this a mistake or are they going to take the piss out of us again?

Surely SKY won't go two pay-per-views in two weeks...

Should we be reading anything into the fact that the fight is now not on the 'Live on SKY' listings?

Boxing History Website?

I'm looking for a website that lists notable boxing events by date, and was wondering if anyone knew of one? Can't find many that are comprehensive enough. Shame Boxrec doesn't let you search through fights on a given date every year

Re: Official Mag 7 Weights from today's weigh in..

Apologies if this shouldn't go here but I didn't want to start another Mag 7 thread. I'm going tomorrow night (flying over in the morning). Does anyone know the deal with getting back into town afterwards? From what I can tell the last train is at 23:47, which may be too early... Also herself wants ...

Macklin v Pavlik?

There was a lot of talk on RTE last night about a potential Pavlik-Macklin fight at Madison Square Garden on Paddy's Weekend. They were saying that 'Pavlik's people' have booked the arena for the date with him as their main target. True? Rubbish? I would have thought that MSG could have been booked ...

Re: Poonsawat Kratingdaenggym v Bernard Dunne

Just came into work: Bernard Dunne and his mandatory challenger, Poonsawat of Thailand, have both made the weight ahead of Saturday's World title fight at the O2. Dunne successfully weighed-in under the 122 pounds limit at his first attempt while the challenger was marginally heavier and had to step...

Sad is not the word for this news. RIP Darren Also guys, is Maloney OK? There's an Irish blog (I'll post a link if people want) reporting that he was brought to hospital with a heart attack after finding Darren. I've not seen this elsewhere. Mods, feel free to amend this post if deemed inappropriate.

John L Sullivan QUestion

Hey guys. I'm making a documentary on MMA (against my will - I'm a boxing man all the way) but I've read on Wikipedia that John SUllivan fought William Muldoon (who trained him for the Kilrain fight and was himself a wrestling champion) in one of the first ever mixed-fight-styles fights and that Mul...

Re: At what point should this fight have been stopped?

Christ that ref shouldn't be let in a ring again. I know it's unlicenced, but that's disgraeful. I watched the fight without looking at the clock and I agree that it should be stopped at 4:05 (I think i had 4:04 but six of one...) But as to why he gave a standing count when the guy literally couldn'...

Where is Dan Donnelly's arm?

Now there's a question that could only be asked by an Irishman, but anywho... On the week that he was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame, myself and a few mates would love to take a pilgrimage to see Dan Donnelly's arm. I know that at one stage it was in the Hideout Bar in Kilcullen...
