Re: Chris Byrd: Best win?

Oh...certainly. That wasn't a strong era for HWT by any means. But man, if he could box and not rely on bombs so much he may have been a legit, deserving champion.

Interesting how one can try to make a racial issue out of this fight......

I guess that's where society has gone. If you don't have a legit explanation must be racism.

Re: Better era of Heavyweight Boxing

Look at my list and put together the current era list. I don't see any comparison really. Fury might be the only guy you can put with the best guys from the 90's. Depends on what you call the current era too. If you mean 2010-today it's closer with the Klitschkos in there and Povetkin. If you go jus...

90's: Old Holmes Tyson (not at his height anymore) Lennox Lewis (In prime) Holyfield (past prime) Bowe (in prime) Old Foreman Michael Moorer Ray Mercer Tommy Morrison Ike Ibeabuchi Even though some of these guys were past prime or straight old I still think 90's hwt was much better than the 2000's &...

Quite possibly the stupidest thing I've seen on here. Body doesn't matter in boxing..... :KO:  You are quite possibly the most Moronic debutante we've ever seen on this board, which is some accolade, believe you me. Really? Personal attacks now? Re: Mike Tyson vs. Roy Jones Jr. - November 28, 2020

It amazes me people think a 54 year old man, who was shot 15+ years ago and hasn't fought since, who has been on powerful medication for depression and has been stoned for god knows how long has miraculously improved with age. All based on 10 second clips of hitting a bag. Nobody said he's a...

Re: Mike Tyson vs. Roy Jones Jr. - November 28, 2020

I doubt that. Do you even watch boxing? Foreman beat top 30 guys at 48. Holyfield beat top 3. guys nearing 50. Heavyweight is different than other weights, there just isn't the quality in the division as there is in others and also you can get away with losing speed more too. I would place a $100 be...

Re: Mike Tyson vs. Roy Jones Jr. - November 28, 2020

I'm talking the shape he's in. He's in better shape now than he was then. He's probably not as quick anymore and older you get the harder it is to take a punch but there are some real trash boxers in the top 30 at hwt and I have no doubt there are a few he could beat.

Re: Mike Tyson vs. Roy Jones Jr. - November 28, 2020

Tyson got worked by Kevin McBride almost 2 decades ago. Granted, the division is trash but he wouldn't beat Kevin Johnson. Something tells that Tyson can be better now than against McBride. He is at least fit now, then he was tired of eveything and wasn't giving much sh!t about preparation. No chan...

If you have been paying attention to the videos of Tyson he's probably in better shape now than he was last time he fought a sanctioned fight. Sure, with age he probably lost a little speed but still looks pretty damn good:

No, i don't think they'd beat the top guys. They're just too big nowadays but I have zero doubts about how trash hwt is that they could be some top 30 guys.

IDK, from a pure entertainment point of view, I'm interested. The sad thing is I think these two might still be better than some of the guys we see boxing now. I think it will be entertaining, I don't think either of these guys knows how to fight an exhibition.

Re: Usyk Height, 6,3 ?

Reach is a bigger deal than height.

As for height in the HWT division, seems like you are small now if you are under 6'4 now.

The Rock is a solid 6'4 maybe 6'5. my friend and I stood next to him and my friend is 6'3 and The Rock was taller than him.

One of the greats and a good guy too. Champ for 7 years if I remember correctly. Wins over Norton, Ali, beat Mercer at like age 43, and gave Holyfield a good fight too at that age. My grandpa who was an old Italian boxer (my Dad too) loved Larry Holmes. Too bad many people's memory is the Larry Holm...

Re: Arum: I'll Explain Financial Implications Of Rematch To Lopez, Loma; Up To Them

I've read somewhere that Lomachenko received 73% of the guaranteed purse pot ($3.25m versus $1.25m) for last weekend's bout. And that could be a huge stumbling block if the Ukrainian refuses to allow Lopez to earn the Lion's share for the rematch. Yeah, could be but the Champ typically does get Lio...

Re: The Tragedy of David Tua

Most of his era of boxing wasn't very good as far as HWTs go. Had he gotten any other title shot besides Lennox Lewis he my have been a champ himself. If I were to make a comparison to an MMA fighter it would be Mark Hunt. Massive power, maybe not the most technical fighter but could put anyone down...
