Re: Spud

Mr Woolatt is a great guy I've been priviliged to know for - well it must be a decade now. He's made a significant contribution to a number of fight careers - and if I understand anything about him - this won't stop him continuing to do so. Thinking about you and yours Spud...

Re: David Haye Ring Entrance Music?

Right Said Fred might be a good shout. Corrie Sanders came in to them before he beat Wladimir in Hanover: "Stand up for the Champions". There was some talk of getting McFadden and Whitehead to sing Haye in live... But on investigation McFadden had died from lung cancer in 2006 and Whitehea...

Re: Alex Arthur trained by Freddie Roach circa 2003?

Roach spent a fortnight in Edinburgh before the Limond fight. Pre Gomez it was phone calls only. Terry McCormack led the corner. I remember Arthur cut and the second soaking his head with a sponge meaning Benny King had to dry his head again before starting work on the cut.

about the same era as austin fought lloyd, frankile liles came over and avenged his only defeat at that point against another american tim littles. Liles ended up 32-3. Not threatening austin and co career wise maybe - but the fight itself was certainly memorable

Re: How tall are Amir Khan and Joe Calzaghe?

Mike the Greek the US stats guru who works with Showtime takes a measuring tape and measures each fighter himself before he compiles the graphics for the telecast. I remember him measuring Joe Calzaghe before the Kid Fire Mcintyre fight in Copenhagen and he said he was exactly six foot. Khan's a bit...

lennon jnr used to say if a fighter was about to box - the least he could do was pronounce his name properly and get his record absolutely right - to do otherwise would be extreme disrespect in the circumstances

Asked if he'd been in the gym - no. Asked about his leg - still a problem. Otherwise he was on good form. I think ...

naz v barrera was really disappointing. If he'd actually gone in with a decent gameplan to beat Barrera things could have been different. It seemed as though he was just expecting to blast away what he seemed to think was a shopworn super-bantam (it was easy to read Morales 1 as a last hurrah). I re...

Ross was in the frame for a big money fight when he met him. Thaxton KO was one of those superslomo replays that Hollywood couldn' reconstruct ...
