Re: Ringside cancelled from this month

Can't say I'm surprised. Adam Smith is terrible - how did he get the job? Johnny Nelson is poor too. Worst part of the show is when a fighter with a big fight coming up has to get in the ring and move around with Johnny and pretend to work on a strategy. Like blue peter but with boxing as the subjec...

Re: degale conspiracy ?

Granted - Texas is not in Japan, of that their is no doubt, but Kameda to all intents and purposes is an adopted Texan in the eyes of the local fight fans there.

Re: degale conspiracy ?

Yes - its in Dirreells home country. Yes - its on Dirreells promoters card. But so was Kameda v Mcdonnell and look what happened there. Everyone was saying Kameda was going to walk through McDonnell and that if it went the distance McDonnell had no chance of getting a decision and the exact opposite...

degale conspiracy ?

I have been thinking about the upcoming fight between DeGale and Dirrell. Will Dirrell win the fight but DeGale get the decision so that Eddie Hearn has a world champion ( DeGale.) Then Eddie can match Degale and Groves for the 'world ' title in a domestic mega fight in the UK. It should'nt be this ...

£150 on Kameda

I had £150 on Kameda to beat Mcdonnell at 4/11. But fair enough Mcdonnell deserved to win the fight in my opinion. I thought it was going to be easy for Kameda the way he was built up in the online previews and the way he started the fight but I got worried when his corner started rubbing his legs a...

Johua could beat commonwealth champ now!

Only my opinion, but i think Anthony Joshua could beat Lucas Brown now. It would be a good fight for Joshua after he gets past Johnson at the end of May. Joshua would have the commonwealth belt and then push on from there. I think after destroying 12 very carefully selected opponents its time to sta...

Re: Documentaries worth watching...

A programme called "Losers Limited" made by Central television about 20 years ago.
I can vaguely remember it.
About Paul Wesley and Nobby Nobbs in Birmingham.
I wish someone had it and could show it, been years since i first saw it.

Re: an evening with.

Trouble with these nights is you go expecting to see your heroes as they were in their prime.

Jake LaMotta is 94 years old remember.

When i saw him he sat in a wheelchair on the stage with his daughter answering the questions cos Jake is virtually deaf.

Don't waste your money.

He is mainly around Lennox in his early fights against Dascola, Ocasio and Ruddock.
Dont know how to upload a picture i'm afraid but he is on the boxing news website cos its 22 years today since lewis beat ruddock.
He always wears a tuxedo although in some he wears a shell suit.

Got a load of old Boxing Monthlys' under my bed.

1989 to 1999 editions.

Great covers.

Liked it when Barry Hugman was in charge.

Remember buying the first ever edition in May 89 and going WOW cos it was in glossy colour pages.

How times change !

Re: Jimmy Tibbs autobiography - can someone review it?

A bit like the frank bruno book. If you follow boxing in depth you already know whats coming next. A book you can scan through and be non the wiser. you already heard it years ago. I agree that JT never says anything remotely negative about anybody. When i met Dean Powell he was the same. You just c...

Becoming a professional trainer/cutman

I have been training local lads at an amateur club for two years aged from 6 - 30.

Helping them get fit with the pads etc and carrying the bucket and such like in the corner at amateur shows.

How do you go about getting involved in the pro game?

Any helpful insight would be most welcome.

The Royal Oak - Canning Town

The legendary gym where TerrY Lawless, Jimmy Tibbs & Frank Black trained all the top fighters of the seventies and eighties
is now an estate agents.

Did anybody ever go when it was a gym and what was it like in regard to atmosphere etc.
