Re: Gene Fullmer: Is He the Last Great All-time White American Boxer?

Is he the Last White American pound per pound all-time great boxer? It's a good question. For me it has to be a solid NO . I haven't read all of the thread, I only skimmed... But Joey G was mentioned, I think that is a fair shout. Off the top of my head - the first name that came to mind was Tommy ...

Re: Joshua on the mic

And no one needs to feel bad for Usyk. He hadn’t a clue what Josh was ranting about anyway, he’s king of the world, and one of the best days of his life no doubt. Usyk's English may not be the best, but I'm sure that he got the gist of it. AJ being a bad loser and talking about having a weekend sti...

Re: Joshua on the mic

Some people are just best kept away from microphones altogether. Certainly if that's the way that boxing has him mentally and emotionally, he might be better off just walking away. He's achieved a hell of a lot over the past decade and he'll never be skint... But undoubtedly the man is struggling t...

Re: Joshua on the mic

3. Telling Usyk that he has skills and that Usyk is not stronger than him, then questioning the man's victory, then walking away and not giving the man a chance to speak to him and reason with him. Regarding 3, I thought that was odd and having heard it a few times I think we missed Usyk off camera...

Re: Joshua on the mic

However none of us know what it's like to be him at that level and all eyes on you. The stress and disappointed must have been immense. Plus as others said he might've been slightly concussed. On the mic he praised Usyk but maybe not the time to do it but I wouldn't kick him when he is down as it w...

Re: Joshua on the mic

AJ did himself no favours whatsoever. He was completely all over the place emotionally and the true AJ came out. He showed more than a little amount of arrogance and ignorance... And I would make 5 quick points on it: 1. Becoming aggressive and wanting to confront Usyk before Chisora and others held...

Re: Tyson Fury Update *LATEST*

Lineal hasn’t always been there. There was a period where there was one champion so it’s indisputable who the champ was then Yes, there was indeed - but to get back to that One Champion era you have to go further back than what you would think. There is a perception that the belts fractured with Al...

Re: Bigger fight in 2022 - Eubank Jr vs Been or Khan vs Brook.

Khan / Brook for me...

People forget how massive that fight was going into it, people were talking about having 2 fights, or even a 3=fight series depending on how they played out...
But because of how one sided the bout was, it takes the shine off it.

Re: Joe Joyce vs. Joseph Parker | BT PPV - 24 September 2022

I picked Parker by decision. Surprised the poll isn't closer... Parker is a big rough old boy, he's a good fighter and he can take the big shots, because he's went the distance with Ruiz, AJ, Whyte and Chisora (x2)... And he has the experience of swimming in the deep water with the sharks... More th...

I'll ring the bell with Laszlo Papp . I don't think that I need to say much as everything has been said about him before. A truly class act and I think - for the most part- it is generally accepted these days that he was one of the best fighters in the world at Middleweight in the early to mid sixti...

The Non-World Champions

A thread for those men who did not manage to win a World Championship, but were good enough too. So, two things: 1, The poster above you mentioned a fighter - you have to make a case against that said fighter in any terms that you so wish. 2. And you have to select a fighter and make a case why you ...

Re: Who beats Liston?

It's ridiculous to bring up Marty Marshall. Why not bring up how he beat Marshall twice? He later beat a much higher calibre of opposition. And Leotis Martin? Liston was 40!! I woukd tend to say that it's ridiculous to build a fighter up as invincible when he was already defeated by a limited fight...

Muhammad Ali, Leotis Martin and... Marty Marshall.... Liston was a big, strong man who was tough, could hit hard and had a threatening demeanour...

BUT - he was not this invincible beast that Ali fans make him out to be....
