Re: George Chuvalo vs Earnie Shavers & other signed bouts that never occurred.

Mark Kaylor vs Frank Animal Fletcher. This fight was meant to happen, but Fletcher pulled out, so Hard rock green took his place....and then he got injured, so Buster Drayton stepped in.
Kaylor vs Fletcher wouldve of been a great fight to watch if it happened.

Re: School Me on Ossie Ocasio

Ocasio was a good fighter, his first fight against Dokes was an entertaining fight to watch and he scored some good wins over some good opponents. Larry Holmes however didn't seem to have much respect for him though, in his book he mentions that opponents at world level 'shouldn't be knocked down by...

Re: Classic fights I've watched recently

James Green vs Mugabi. Green gave Mugabi his toughest fight by far pre Hagler. Mugabi was very lucky that the ref didnt stop it in the third since Green was all over him and was one punch away from scoring a KO. James Green vs Frank Fletcher. Another action packed brawl. Tyson vs Ruddock II. This fi...

Re: Renaldo "Mr." Snipes

Snipes was a good fighter, always gave it his all. He was lucky to get the decision against Coetzee, but he beat Berbick convincingly and gave Witherspoon one of his toughest fights. He had one of the toughest chins of the 80's heavyweights. I saw his last fight against Gonzalez and it was just sad...

Re: Tyson's best fight?

Tyson's most impressive win was probably against Thomas. Unlike some other challengers who fought Tyson i.e Spinks and Bonecrusher Smith, Thomas came to fight and stood his ground against Tyson and he was doing quite well despite nearly being knocked out in the first round. Tyson got into the swing ...

Re: A Tony Sibson Story

Sibbo was outclassed by Hagler but should be proud of his effort to wrest the title from him. He clearly put everything in and went down fighting. Ive read Sibbos book and his character is alot like Johnny Owen. Kind, quiet, and unassuming. Which is why after he stopped boxing he kept out of the lim...

Re: Bowe vs Hide - If Hide had a chin ??

He lasted 6 rounds against an obese Lennox Lewis and somehow people are impressed with that. If you check out the Passing the Torch Thread you will see that. People have made other comments praising Klitschko's performance as well. Hide gets bounced up and down like a ping pong ball and some people...

Re: Mike Tyson vs James "Quick" Tillis: How Do You Scored It

Tyson won the fight but it was a close one. Tillis proved that he could fight at world level when dedicated.

Tyson said in his book that Tillis gave him such a body beating that it was the only time he felt so much pain after a fight.

Re: was razor ruddock a shot fighter when he faced lennox le

Ruddock was past it when he fought Lewis, the 2 brutal Tyson fights took a lot out of him and by the time he faced off against Lewis he was damaged goods.

Lewis was very lucky to of fought Ruddock at the time he did.

Re: Gerrie Coetzee v. David Haye

Coetzee TKO 8.

Coetzee is better in every department and unlike Haye, didnt run in his biggest challenge. And always gave it his all.

Haye while a good fighter, has not been tested in a war like Coetzee has been.

Re: Tyson (Berbick) vs Lewis (Botha)

Save it for posterity. Lewis was knocked down twice in his entire career. One was a haymaker from Rahman. (He never should have been caught with it, but that isn't the issue.) That punch would have ko'd about anyone; certainly Tyson. The only other one was against McCall and he did get up. He was s...

Re: Tyson (Berbick) vs Lewis (Botha)

well i think lewis with his physical advantages would win. but a young, fearless tyson is very dangerous. and it only takes a moment to cause damage. also what comes to mind is tyson fought ruddock hard for 12 rounds. yet lewis bombed him out in 2. so, advantage lewis. Totally irrelevant. Tyson by ...

Re: Mike Tysons legacy?

Tyson had the skills to become the the greatest heavyweight to ever lived, but too much partying and drugs got in the way. But in his peak he was the perfect fighting machine, One punch KO power in either hand, very fast hand and feet, extremely fit, good defensive skills, heart of a warrior and a c...

Re: KOTV last night: Lennox- Lewis vs. Weaver

I disagree, Tyson had a rock solid chin and a heart of a Lion. And he proved it when going toe to toe with Ruddock, Bruno etc. Tyson was never sparked by a single shot in any of his losses. And in each of his losses he went out on his shield. Lewis on the other hand never got to show us his fightin...

Lewis first KD of Rudduck was a thing of beauty. How Rudduck got up I'll never know, look at how his legs get taken from under him. If you combined the athleticism of early 90's Lewis with the experience and know how of late 90's Lewis, you've got just about the perfect Heavyweight. Except for the ...

I met him before his second fight with Ruddock in 1991, on my first and only trip to the USA. Always wonder...
