Pretty much. It's always been my understanding that without TV money it's near impossible to make a profit running a pro show.SeanBrennan wrote: ↑28 Dec 2025, 06:51 Good article that, were they saying they lose money putting shows on (where they quote the cost of a card)?

At 42 years old, and very much overweight with no boxing experience, I reckon she sends me to the canvas with a body shot in the first round and I ain't getting up.

I saw him up in Fort William a while ago and he was very impressive. Since then he's won gold at World Boxing's Youth World championships.

Exhibitions not allowed on an amateur show . Under who's rules? I'd say about 90% of amateur club shows I've worked over the years have featured at least one exhibition. I had the pleasure of seeing Leo in action last year up in Fort William. One of the most impressive young talents I've ever seen....

Ogogo went the wrestling route, same with Orie I think after he probably realises his limitations. Ben is a fraud in my book and should get out while his reputation is still intact and use it to get into wrestling or something. I'm not sure if there are any options like that out there but he had a ...

Re: Are you going to pay 25 quid for the fight?
I'll be working at a show on Saturday, so unless we finish at such a time I get home early enough, then I won't be paying. If I wasn't working, then I would be buying it. Compared to a lot of other events in the past year or so, this is one that is actually worthy of PPV status. Whilst the price is ...

Re: Is There Any Shame In A Boxer Quitting?
As fans, we should never be ashamed of a man that wanted to pull out of a fight he's risking his life and health to complete. No truer word said on this forum 100 percent. When I was younger and less mature I would have said different. But no shame at all. I'll never forget McCellan- Benn and Jim W...

Re: Is There Any Shame In A Boxer Quitting?
There shouldn't be any shame in it. Even if the boxer has been mouthy beforehand, if they are well beaten and/or suffering serious injury, then I would much rather see them give it up and preserve their health. It can be embarrassing if they have complained about other boxers quitting or banged on a...

In amateur/Olympic style boxing, it would 10-8 to A as knockdowns and standing counts have no impact on scoring the round.

I would pretty much agree with them, although I would maybe give Opetaia an extra point or two as the knockout was at least impressive to watch.
Dubois v Miller was easily my favourite of the night, due to how well the former performed and kept it up right to the end to get the stoppage.

I'm pretty sure in the UK the Board banned anyone involved in a fight in any capacity from betting on it. If I recall correctly this came about after David Haye v Audley Harrison.

Looking at all British title results it would appear that Pearce v Meade on 22 September 1983 was the last one scheduled for 15. there had been several scheduled for 12 before this and the last in a regular run of 15s was Hugh Russell v John Feeney 25 January 1983. The last one to go the full 15 rou...

I've paid £200 a couple of times for ringside at the Hydro when Ricky Burns was boxing. Don't think I've ever paid any higher than that.
A bit different, but I paid about £180 for my ticket for the wrestling at Wembley the other and that was sitting in the 200 level of the stadium.

Re: Time to can the Commonwealth?
The CBC have now introduced a secondary title called the Commonwealth Silver. Apparently this in place of eliminator contests and the holder of it would be entitled to a final eliminator for the main title.
