Yes, there can only be threads where people worship the great yet overrated Clay.gilgamesh wrote:I'd apologize if it weren't true.

I respect what Clay accomplished as a fighter.
But I don't respect him as a person.

It's not like he had a blood clot for the entire fight. He did look gassed fairly early.BarryWashington wrote:What evidence are you using that he gassed hard?
The Benn fight where he was fighting with a blood clot in his brain?
Though obviously, that fight should've been over in the first. But that's another story.

Re: joe frazier of 1971 vs larry holmes of 1980??
I just cannot see the great Larry Holmes beating someone as relentless as the great Joe Frazier. Smokin Joe will win this fight. i just can't see frazier beating holmes ,holmes would do better than ali did vs joe and i think frazier would come out of it a bloody mess after taking so many shots from...

You're mistaking boredom for hate. I don't hate you, I don't mind that you disagree about Ali as a fighter, I don't mind that you have strong feelings about him as a man. I mind that so many ludicrous threads on the subject infest the forum, and that threads get overrun with this sort of nonsense. ...

Logical Reasoning How Great is Good........ * Alonzo Johnson did no worse than a Draw with Cassius Clay. * Doug Jones did not worse than a Draw with Cassius Clay. * If Henry Cooper landed that left hook 15-Seconds earlier, Cassius would have been 'Flipping Burgers in Louisville' * Joe Frazier 'owne...

Re: Ali's Greatest Hits !
Holmes was a great fighter, and as far as I can tell a nice guy, who took no pleasure in the manner of his win over Ali. One of only a few who even deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence. I like Holmes too, but he is the definition of a grouchy curmudgeon at times....lol. He didn't handle him...

Another "great" hit. http://www.sweetfights.com/fd_1_b.jpg His ability to absorb punishment, may well be another trait that few others could equal much less surpass. But that alone could not get him past Larry at this point in his degrading skill level. Which by this time was about where ...
