Re: Melbourne ring announcer Howard Leigh
Howard was taken to hospital after the event last night. I am sure the entire boxing community wish him a speedy recovery. It is is often easy to forget the contribution people have made, especially, when they are in their twilight. Howard has been staple in Victorian boxing for decades. Let's hope ...

Re: Shannon McMahon, Tim Hunt & Jimmy James - Malvern on November 4th
Results as follows: Dale Ludolff and Nicholas Scerri boxed an entertaining draw over 4 rounds with both boxers being dropped once each. Corey Allen out-pointed Meauli Fakuaua over 4 rounds Pania Marshall stopped Jasita Yotawan in the 3rd and final round, crowd was unimpressed with the bout and I wou...

Re: Referee Ignatius Missailidis
Ignatius takes his role as referee very seriously and respects the boxers greatly and this shows when he is working a fight.
Ignatius is always happy to help less experienced referees and gives up his time willingly to help boxing and all combat sports.

Re: Oz boxing is absolutely honest & safe as it comes
Where does responsibility lie for a boxer like the one in question? In my opinion it lies with the boxer first and then his trainer. I wonder if the promoter knew the boxer was competing the day before his show as I am sure he would be disappointed to know boxer was "double booked". It als...

Danny Green Australian Cruiserweight Champion my ass he fought and won a vacant title, and it was only vacated so he could fight for it. Didn't hear him once say how happy he is to be the Australian champion. we have boxers in Aus that would just about kill to be able to fight for the Australian ch...

Re: Boxing Promo Doncaster Shoppingtown Hotel
Murray has promoted at Doncaster in the past. The venue is smaller than Knox so better for a show like last night.

Boxing Promo Doncaster Shoppingtown Hotel
First show for 2016 in Victoria took place last night in Doncaster promoted by Murray Thompson. The card included 4 professional bouts supported by a handful of spirited amateur bouts which were enjoyed by a strong local crowd. First fight saw hard puching Matthew Portelli flatten Anthony Corless wh...

I am pretty sure the legislation in Victoria would forbid anything other than Mixed Martial Arts from being competed in a "safety enclosure".

Re: malvern fights upto same old tricks
Promoters might need to rethink the auctions with live streaming. For mine the auctions are boring and take away from the show, but, online it would be worse. If the auctions are a money making venture for the promoters then they need to consider how many online subscribers will not subscribe to fut...

Re: malvern fights upto same old tricks
A bit harsh to criticise the show. The three Victorian titles were all good bouts with the crowd enjoying each of them for different reasons. It was good to see 6 local boys having a red hot a go in an effort to secure a title. Esgandari and Don was a great battle with Esgandari down in the first an...

Re: Malvern Tonight, Frank Bianco Cup
Malvern tonight pays tribute to a lost member of the boxing family, Frank Bianco, who lost his fight with cancer recently.
Hope a good crowd shows up for the Frank Bianco Cup.
As Grant pointed out some good local bouts to keep everyone entertained.

Re: It's time Victorian punch counters had singing lessons
The heading for this subject is misleading because a judge who is willing to give a 10/8 round without a knockdown could be commended. Assuming the winner of the round was dominating by a large margin then a 10/8 is correct. From a health and safety point of view rewarding clear dominance is logical...

Re: Ritchie vs Mikelj Tonight
Very good fight with Mikelj showing great heart to continue after the knock down and suffering cut left eye early in the fight. Ritchie stuck to his plan and executed it well. The main prelim was a cracker with Buttigieg outpointing Capps over 8 non-stop rounds for the Victorian title. I don't think...

Re: Zac Dunn
Zac Dunn was to crisp, accurate and powerful for Kwak as he TKO'd him in the 2nd round in what was a very dominant performance. Also on the card: Clark WTKO2 Toby (Clark put too much pressure on for Toby leaving ref no option but to step in) Breese WTKO7 Parry (Good stoush, Breese just a bit more ac...

It was a good show however it was a John Scida Promotion. John Scida was also the match maker.
No doubt this will be corrected on Boxrec.
