Re: Are Sky sports boxing on the ropes.. Matchroom boxing jumping ship?
With a bit of imagination there's no need for them to be. Goodwin, Helliet, MTK, Mo Prior, Stefy Bull, can all put good shows on, better with tv money. More than that, picture this: Someone at SKY gets a promoters license. No need to cut in a promoter, they can be very competitive in attracting figh...

Blackledge pulled out by his corner at the end of the 3rd. Not sure about Edmondson. Has fast, sharp counters but as soon as his opponent got close he grabs hold. Possibly another McKinson which boxing could do without  If you were McKinson's trainer, would you change what he's doing, seei...

Re: Coaching during the rounds....
Playing devils avacado here, Yarde had no amateur experience and while he has been matched carefully, he has reached an excellent standard. Is this just be luck? Massive natural talent? Or did his trainer have something to do with it? Bang on. 12 amateur bouts, gone to a world title shot. No-one sa...

Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
John would it be worth asking the Board for the postcodes or however they delineate the Areas?
I'm guessing Scottish/Welsh/NI Areas explain themselves.

Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
we can search the BBBofC titles by Area... is there any chance of adding the Area filter into the fighter rankings too? So being able to see all the fighters eligible to fight for the Southern Area title at a given weight? Is this something we can do? Not easily, we don't have a programmatic breakd...

Yeah got to find his own voice.
Carr vs Adams was a good scrap. Both of them turned down a fight with our boy Frank Arnold though. We'd take the fight with either.

Re: We can fly to mars, but cant have perfect scoring in boxing?
The other thing that happens a lot these days is that a lot of people tend to score fights to the fighter who has finished the stronger then cry robbery if the decision goes the other way. Forgetting that a fight is actually 12 individually scored rounds. What also happens a lot is people don’t bot...

Re: We can fly to mars, but cant have perfect scoring in boxing?
re Canelo/Lara, I remember people on here the night of that fight talking like they hadn't seen Lara accomplish anything at all and it was obvious that Canelo had buried him on points. It's all really a lot more subjective than people usually like to admit. Please, everybody stop with that subjecti...

Re: Pros fighting in amateurs
Amateur boxing serves a useful social purpose outside of its 'leading to professional boxing' use.
Allowing pro boxers to fight in the World Championships does nothing to change that.
However, what is the point then of turning professional if the next honour you will fight for is an amateur one?

Re: When Should Ali Have Retired?
Interesting isn't it. Retire after Folley in 1967, a mercurial talent who walked away for personal reasons aged 25, having defended the title 9 times. Retire after Frazier 1 in 1970, a great champion who couldn't recapture the dazzling form he had prior to a lengthy lay-off. Retire at any point betw...

Re: We can fly to mars, but cant have perfect scoring in boxing?
At the end of the day, a fight that goes to the cards is going to be subjective to a certain degree. I don’t think a lot of fans when watching fights actually score fights round by round and are way, way too quick to yell robbery at what in reality is a close fight. Exactly. they tune out for most ...

Re: Claressa Shields vs. Ivana Habazin - Vacant WBO/WBC 154 Title - October 5, 2019
My thoughts on this whole thing: Shields was out of order when she said that Habazin should just fly in another trainer. There is no way that Shields would fight in the same circumstances, no top-level fighter would. The last few years have seen an increase in the blurring between 'audience' and 'te...

I would love to see this fight. Even at 23, Sanchez had a wealth of experience and had already beaten seriously good opposition.

Re: Round-by-Round: MTK: The Golden Contract | Featherweights 1/4 Finals - 4 October 2019
Happened right in front of me. I thought it was a legitimate stoppage. I was surprised his corner hadn't already retired him as he was not in the fight, it was the sort of fight where the last few rounds could have been dispensed with and saved him some damage.
