Efe Ajagba VS opponents (he can defeat within 6 months)

Post by Boxtune »

Which opponents you think Efe agaba he can defeat within 6 months from now. You can choose as many from the poll. (Choose all 10 opponents if you think he can defeat them all ).

Why isn't pulev listed? He could beat him.

Poll allows 10 choice only. And i thought pulev is better than all them.

You won't find a bigger Efe fan than me, but this isn't a decent exercise for Ajagba. I don't think he's shown enough to compare to most of those on this list. They are all several levels above his past opponents. Sorry.

Oh, I know you do. I would only rank Parker ahead of him. I was yanking your chain.

That's why i gave 10 opponents. I think you would be very under estimating Efe ajagba, if you think he can't beat any of above within 6 months timeframes.

Pulev beat hugie fury a year later, much easier than parker did.

I didn't subject myself to pulev/fury. Parker/fury was bad enough. Pulev doesn't have any wins of note. He's been around a long time in a poor era. That's why he rates.

I rate him number one HW prospect with a bright future. Trouble is, his future is more than six months down the line. He'll have around three fights over the next six months. He has to jump from Mansaur/Hernandez to the levels you list. That's a huge leap in levels. He has a punchers chance of course, but I'm being realistic. If you made one year, I'd pick Efe over just about all of them.

Pulev beat prime thompson, prime ustinov, prime chisora .. still i believe he can beat whyte and povetkin (drug free who couldn't beat cruiser weight Marco Huck) if they fight this year.

I think pulev will out jab Efe agaba and tire him in clinches which he is very good at, if they fight now.

You made my point for me. I guess a 42yr old Thompson was prime and his best win. Fair enough. Chisora isn't a bum, Ustinov was always terrible. Pick him in any fight you like, but he's never beaten a top figgter.

You nailed it in an earlier post His longevity overlapping a crap era makes him relevant. I don't think very highly of Pulev. If he was any better, he wouldn't be fighting Dinu this week. He's a 'must miss.'

Only luis ortiz managed to beat Tony Thompson at age 45. All others before him failed to defeat thompson convincingly, except prime klitchko.

Yes, thompson was very good at age 42. Sorry guys i am not trying to start a pissing contest, but you have to accept it.

C'mon now. The only pissing was Tony pissing his depends. Thompson's resume isn't chock full of top names. He was in a weak era and just about every name he met, he lost to. Beating an over 40 y/o Thompson, doesn't rate for me. Sorry. Malik Scott; Carlos Takam; Kubrat Pulev...

Nothing to piss about, I already gave that to you because it's irrelevant to the point. Your boy has never beaten a top fighter. Accept that fact and just carry on being a fan.

Ajagba looks really good, but these heavyweights are far too seasoned for him so early on.

Maybe. But i sense agabja might be getting littke over confident about himself, facing easiest opponent from above will be an eye opener and gives him a little further push to get better.

Efe Ajagba at 24 has plenty of time to develop, I think he will be carefully matched over this next year but boxing credible has been boxers.

I dont think he will fight the likes of joe joyce in the short term and possible Joyce's team may not want to fight him either. Its pointless wasting one boxers career at this stage of development.

I dont think this lad will be fighting over here so cannot see him fighting any British opponent unless they go over to the US.

The likes of Dillon Carmen from Canada has a reasonable record, Even Lucas Browne after Dave Allen beats him could also be another opponent along with Joey Abell, Joey Dawejko, or Tomasz Adamek. There are a few decent lads in the UK who have decent rankings but I cant see any of them facing Efe.

I think that it's incumbent upon Ajagba to fight and beat Kevin Johnson before those other names are mentioned as possible opponents.

He's still a rookie.

I'm not worried about Efe being over-confident. Ronnie Shields says he's never seen a fighter work so hard.

It’s far too early to mention Efe Ajagba in the same sentence as many of the guys listed in this poll. He still has a lot to learn.

There’s a possibility that, with an extra year’s worth of experience under his belt, he may be capable of beating the current iterations of the extremely negative minded Robert Helenius and the seemingly shot Bryant Jennings.

I wouldn’t want a raw novice like Ajagba to share the ring with any of the other guys during the current calendar year.

Ajagba’s opposition in the pro ranks has been terrible in comparison to the names listed in this poll, with the Nigerian’s credibility undermined further by only having eight bouts in the amateur ranks, coupled with looking like a clumsy street brawler when he got dominated by Ivan Dychko.

Don’t buy into the hype just yet until he achieves something impressive. Let’s refrain from prematurely granting him an honorary rite of passage to being considered as a top-ten world-rated heavyweight without even requiring the need for validation.
