That fight wasn't in the UK so it's not up to the Board to sanctioned it or not, they can however sanction you as a license holder for taking it without their permission.

Yer pal just same set up as prizefighter just not aswel paid. So ok John but whatim asking is if they said they wnt sanction it and my licence is wiv them shouldn't in the boards eyes that bout not count on my record?

No because it didn't happen under the Board's jurisdiction, they can only sanction or nor sanction fights in the UK. Suppose a Nigerian boxer fought against you on a Board show here and lost. Then the Nigerian commission phoned up and said sorry that fight wasn't sanctioned, do you think the Board would say fair enough and take it off your record ?

Shows are sanctioned or not sanctioned by the commission(s) in the country where they take place. Ie. shows in the UK are sanctioned or not sanctioned by the BBBofC, shows in Germany are sanctioned or not sanctioned by the BDB etc. There was no official commission overseeing the show in Cyprus therefore it is unsanctioned.

i get wot ur sayin so just a question, why do the board still reconise a fight on ur record wen ther sayin u wer in a country wiv no commision so we wont allow it as with out a commision we want no part of it, yet they still let it go on ur record

Just a quick question John because this has happened last year.

Say for example you have a kid who boxes on the unlicensed/non board/whatever you want to call it circuit. Now understandably his fights are not recorded on Boxrec (and rightly so).

However, he goes abroad and boxes on a foreign show - should that fight be on Boxrec?

Something ive thought about recently too .

It must count as otherwise Danny williams wouldnt have added to his record as BBBoC had refused to renew his license

This means that a fight in the UK, which had officially trained referees and two pro licensed fighters, would not be recorded if a sanctioning fee wasn't paid. But a gym fight (in a country of no recognised sanctioning bodies jurisdiction) could be recorded.

I can understand why the BBBofC are your deciding body in the UK. For the others; How do you decide on whether a fight is worthy of inclusion or not?

The status of a boxer in country A or with Commission A does not affect his status in country B or with Commission B. However some commissions do respect others commissions' licenses and suspensions. For example Wayne McCullough lost his British license but he was able to continue boxing in the USA. Joe Mesi lost his license in Nevada but was able to get one Louisiana, Arkansas, Michigan, West Virginia and Rhode Island.

once again, if the Nigerians told the Board that they didn't recognise any British shows with Nigerian boxers on as being sanctioned do you think the Board would say fair enough old cock we will delete them ?

Ok then I had another 3 fights wen I was in Cyprus now the board dNt recognise ther fights but il hav em on my record please 3 wins 3 knock outs.....point I'm making is I'm sure the country ur licensed to has the power to say wot they class as a contest and Woy they don't and if they dnt as one of ther boxers the record they shud keep of u is the fights they sanction. I'm sure Nigeria cud make a rule if they wanted that any fights boxed in England under are licence will go down as a nc!! By what ur sayin John every fight I hav outside of the uk shud go on my record!!!
