Pot, Kettle, Black?

Now I dont deny much of what he said is spot on, he had his chance to control destinies as a trainer/manager, and sold out to the $$$ whilst nearly single handidly destroying the local TV boxing scene when it was at a solid level. Word for word, he could have used those comments to talk about his own managerial/promotional/trainer career.
Absolutely unbelievable. He probably mumbled all that with a straight face, too.

You could never criticize Fenech's record as a fighter. He ducked nobody and beat the best in three weight divisions.
Who do you have a problem with regarding who Fenech trained? He always sent his fighters out prepared. You cannot win all the time, some fights they would lose because of fighting better opponents. Promotion is a difficult job, fighters turn up with falsified records and fighters who look likely to do well sometimes freeze when they hit the big time.
As for Mundine, can you really say that a man who has won two fights in the last three years, been KOed by Sam Soliman and stopped fighting against Paul Briggs was a worthy contender for a World Title shot? Of course not. I do not know where this "Number 15 in the world" came from, because there would have to be many more than fourteen super middleweights who would handle Clavero with little trouble.
Did you see Jeff Lacy on the Mayweather/Hatton card? If he is not more deserving of a title shot than Clavero I will walk backwards to Canberra!

Jeff's speel on 2ky radio this morning, whilst true about Mundine not testing himself on his way to fighting a decent top rated guy, smacks of hypocrisy because...didn't Jeff do the same thing with the careers of Nedal and Hussy Hussein?
Before Hussy took on Wongjongkam for the WBC title, his five lead up bouts were:
Falazona Fidal 3-7-1
Wandee Singwancha 38-4-0
Panca Siliban 1-0-1
Kosol Sor Vorapin 1-3-1
Sande Kazito 1-4-0
Before he stepped up to fight Jorge Arce, his lead up was:
Federico Catubay 14-8-3
Yopi Benu 6-2-2
Dozer Tobing 2-10-0
Pedek shandra 0-0-0
Both lists aren't exactly murderers row. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.
Sadly, Mundine seems to be following suit.

I critisize Mundine (like, that worries Anthony) not because he gave a nobody a title shot. Its just he won't admit that as of today he is NOT the best super middle in the world, fkuc hes not even the best supper middle in the WBA.
Anthony smile, admit your a good fighter, a contender, but don't raise your finger and try to fool us that are the best.
20 years ago last nights fight would have been a 10 round non title fight and no one would have had to pay to see it on TV
In the words of Ric Flair.... " to be the man ya gotta beat the man.....Wooooooo!"

Nedal "Skinny" Hussein fought manny Pacquaio in his 20th fight. Just looking at Pac man's record, he has fought some losers too.
Nedal Hussein has never been a World champion. Mundine holds the WBA Super Middleweight title, and he defended it against a nobody. If this was a non-title fight for a fighter I would accept it. You cannot fight a contender every month, but this was represented as a title defence, a big money fight, a Pay Per View fight, not a dinner fight at an RSL club.

Both the Hussien boys arnt as skilled as Mundine and wouldnt have to fight a guy as good as Calzaghe to get a belt, I think Fenech was totally right.perfect jet wrote:Jeff's speel on 2ky radio this morning, whilst true about Mundine not testing himself on his way to fighting a decent top rated guy, smacks of hypocrisy because...didn't Jeff do the same thing with the careers of Nedal and Hussy Hussein?

Also Mundine has the finances to fight any body he wants and has the name to do it, Do you think either Hussien would have been able to bring out good enough fighters to prepare them, i doubt it.

It isn't the role of the fighter to pay for his opponent. I'm sure Fenech had enough cash in his pocket to bring out even half decent opponents if he really wanted to.ben k wrote:Both the Hussien boys arnt as skilled as Mundine and wouldnt have to fight a guy as good as Calzaghe to get a belt, I think Fenech was totally right.perfect jet wrote:Jeff's speel on 2ky radio this morning, whilst true about Mundine not testing himself on his way to fighting a decent top rated guy, smacks of hypocrisy because...didn't Jeff do the same thing with the careers of Nedal and Hussy Hussein?

I know the fighters dont pay opponents its just that there not a big enough draw to get the money back for there opponents, Like it or not boxing is a business and promoters arnt in it to go broke.perfect jet wrote:It isn't the role of the fighter to pay for his opponent. As a short tewrm investment, Fenech paying for quality overseas opponents probably means he losses. But shouldn't Fenech have treated them as "long term investments"???ben k wrote:I know the fighters dont pay opponents its just that there not a big enough draw to get the money back for there opponents, Like it or not boxing is a business and promoters arnt in it to go broke.perfect jet wrote:It isn't the role of the fighter to pay for his opponent. But I'l let you in on soemthing Ben, that you obviously have overlooked. Promoters and Managers the world over, struggle to break even on club shows but hope for a hot prospect to come along that they can invest in and hopefully reap the rewards later.
Fenech had big hopes for both the Hussein boys. He would have been eyeing off big pay days for both down the track. That's why he could hav e invested more in them earlier. Again, he wasn't a struggling promoter/mangager who didn't have 2 cents to fork out. $ was never a problem for him. Or was sponsorship.
He sat on those two kids and paid the price when they stepped up. I bet both Hussein boys will tell you the same.
Hamden is a good, honest fighter who will fight anybody and wins more than he loses. His only losses have been against topline fighters, his only KO loss was against Abraham (no disgrace).
Unfortunately he is not a big hitter, with a 40-5 win/loss record, but only 18 KO wins. Against Mundine this would be a problem. Most of Hamden's KOs were at super welter and middle.
