olympic team and 2008 us championships

just wondering if the olympic team will also be competing in the us championships??????

Puncher 7 - the answer is no - they will not be competing in the U.S. Championships.

I'm sure they won't compete in any national tourneys. The last thing you want is for the Olympian to lose to another boxer from the United States.

That's strange but I get it. If they lost in the USA they would have their Olympic spot up for challenge ?

The US Championships are the same week as the olympic qualifier in Trinidad so there will be 6 US boxers there who did not quailify in Chicago.

Once the Olympic team is chosen, there are no more domestic tournaments for them. In prior Olympic years, the U.S. Championships was held in January, with the Western & Eastern Trials the end of January or in February with the Olympic Trials to follow. Not this time. The team has already been determined and a new crop, hopefully, will be participating in the 2008 Championships.
