I've always found it a source of amusement that the winner of the tournament to find the successor to Muhammad Ali turned out to be Ali's sparring partner.

Shame Martin got the bad cut, he was behind but in the fight. Would've been interesting to see how the championship rounds turned out as Ellis usually did his best work early and faded some in the late rounds.

Its safe to say that Ellis would have gotten the decision should it have ended up going the distance and being a clse match.

You never know, but I also think that Ellis still would have won the fight.
Both of these guys are interesting. Ellis is underrated, but Martin is even more so. It's too bad that he got the detached retina in the Liston fight and had to retire.
