Tommy Morrison Vs Roy 'Tiger' Williams. Who wins?

Post by KOJOE90 »

A battle of two big puncher, there should be fireworks.

I understand that Roy Williams was a very tough, strong and avoided Philly fighter who was very intimidating, I believe that Earnie Shavers and Larry Holmes although both beat him in tough fights were in no rush to fight him.

Morrison was an exciting come forward banger who could box a bit when needed to as he showed against an admitidly old George Foreman.

I see this fight going along a simular line as Morrison - Mercer
with Tommy taking the first few round with his initial onsluaght, however I see Roy slowly gaining the upper hand with hard jabs and right hand slowing 'The Duke' down before stopping him in about 6/7 rounds.

Any opinions fight fans? 8)

man you are one sick crazy bastard.

whats tommy ever done to you to jusity throwing him to the tiger fly??

the only reason tiger lost to holmes and shavers was because he was so damned inactive because nobody was nuts enough to fight the huge crazy bastard.

tiger despite his ring rust beat holmes up and didnt get the decision, and with any other referee in the world wouldve been given a TKO9 or 10 over shavers, but the masochistic ref let it go on and on until tiger dropped from the exhaustion of kicking shavers ass.

with don king behind him instead of trying to hold him down, the guy wouldve gone places. with more actibvity, he would have gone places.

both at the peak of their powers, morrisons bombs dont budge big rock jawed tiger, morrison tires, one of tigers crushing left hooks hurls morrison into the 3rd row.

i must disagree.

Holmes won a solid decision over Williams, there was no controversy.

In rounds 4-9 Holmes gives the world a wonderful exhibtion on how you jab.

The rest of your post however i agree with its entirity.

TIGER WAS A SPARRING MATE FOR LEON SPINKS BACK IN 77. HE COULD BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF LEON ANY TIME HE WANTED TOO. I WATCHED HIM IN MONTREAL. HE COULD REALLY FIGHT. I SPOKE TO HIM AND HE SAID I JUST EARN MONEY AND TRAVEL TO GET THESE GUYS IN SHAPE. DID HE NOT BECOME A PRETTY GOOD SINGER WITH A BAND. SEEN CLIPS OF HIM YEARS AGO SINGING. HE WAS A BIG TOUGH GUY. AND A NICE GUY TO SPEAK TOO. HAD A UGLY SCAR ON HIS FACE.

Williams could take a big punch, Morrison could not, end of story.

Williams did often get into 'sparring partner' mode and let himself get outboxed, but unlike some I was never impressed by Morrison's 'boxing' ability. The Foreman performance was more a case of George simply not throwing punches and Morrison running away in the later rounds.

I've never seen Williams-Holmes beyond short clips, and this is the first time I've heard anyone state Roy deserved the decision. Where can I see this fight?

Ah, old KOJOE90. Now there was a man who stuck to his word. I well remember the day he hysterically shrieked that he was leaving for ever after a minor tiff with another poster. But, unlike many others who have made that statement, he never did come back.

Now all we have to remember him by are a few fading old posts...

I heard he moved to a bungalow in CBZ-By-The-Sea. I recall seeing the odd post asking for info on the most obscure fighters last time I was passing though. I was heartened to see he had made a new life for himself in the sheltered atmosphere over there.

Really???

I never knew Joe had left officially, wondered why he never posted round here? Assumed it was the severe drop in quality over the last few years.

Dunno who he upset/upset him, but he is a nice fella.

Joe is still an active mod here, and is a nice guy. He didn't need the posting aggro, I guess. Shame. He knew his stuff, an 80s Bible like me.
