Kickett v St Clare

Post by amwsnw »

Firstly, I am a west aussie, so I was going for Willie. But I struggled to give him 3 rnds. Did anybody else see it the same way of was I asking too much ?? Gary easy.......the judges way off the mark.

Watch the fight without commentory and then make a decision, That was some of the most baised commentory ive seen in a fairly even fight.

StClair came forward but never controled the fight he was continully hit with hard punches especially uppercuts.

Have to agree.was a very hard fight to score aside from the odd round here or there.Did think Gary won. Was very close.I guess in perspective hats off again to Kickett. Was bloody close and was not out of his depth by any means. He did land the better shots. Left hand down worried me. Did not seem exhausted though after busy fight and did land some damn good shots. Good fight. Scorecards a joke though-guess u gotta give close rounds to someone!still think he his gonna be on the world stage.Kickett is pretty damn good for a novice.

It was a close fight but i think Kickeett pulled away in the last 3-4 rounds, until then i had it fairly even.

good thing about watching in a pub.couldnt hear the commentary.Think bens point of coming forward but not doin a great deal is what it was all about.BUT still think he did enough. One of those fights where some rounds so close.Think would have to watch it again WITHOUT the benefit of pale ale(several)-apologies for my typing coz it s farked at this point.

Still reckon Kickett is shit hot.to take someone of Garys class on at this stage of his career and at a more favourable weight to say Khan is good stuff. HE IS SO FAST.

please though Willie-keep those hands up.And dont get up against the ropes so much.

switch htting still had me sitting there with a goofy grin.not sure wether a bad or good thing but was impressive-right jab jab jab, left jab left jab jab.Impressive!

i had kickett winning ,but it was a close fight that could of gone either way, i thought st clairs gameplan was better and he executed it well ,but kicketts youthfullness and natural athletic ability got him home and he will derive alot of benefit from testing himself this hard so early in his career

i know its something thats been said alot before but if gairy had some better power he would be something very special

St Clair owned the ring, he did control the fight and I would love to see the punch stats. I reckon St Clair would have outlanded him 3 to 1, Kickett may have landed some of the harder shots however it wasn't enough to win the rounds after St Clair's constant pressure...

The older man taught the young man a thing or two, lke most I think St Clair won it by 2 or 3 rounds, but its different watching it live than on TV.

Kickett showed all the signs of becoming a very good fighter. St Clair , however ,clearly won the fight with a higher workrate & dictation of the way the fight was fought. Like Marlin, the crowd at the venue I was at were stunned by the decision. There is no way that was a 98-92 fight to Kickett.

Yes, it was a "Barry Crocker" of a decision.

It was an excellent and tough fight but Gairy clearly won by landing the most punches, cutting William with a punch, which was called a butt in error and dominating William for a greater perecentage of the time.

As for the judges, time now for a visit to OPSM or put in an order for a labrador.

I watched it again today and i still scored it for Kickett. StClair came forward but most of his punches landed on gloves and shoulders. He controled a lot of the way the fight was going but Kickett still landed the cleaner and harder shots. I would be suprised if the punches LANDED had a big difference.
You have to take into account in a fight like this if a round is close it has to be scored one way or the other so if all things are close then the harder cleaner shots will tilt a round.

It's funny because I would have said most of Kickett's shots landed on gloves or arms. I thought St Clair was far more effective.

I was never properly sold on Kickett. Always thought Jackson Asiku was the superior fighter with more realistic world class hopes. If Jackson had been given the fights that Kickett gets he'd be well on his way. Rumour has it the Chris John fight might be back on.

Boxrec report said St Clair was knocked down in the second and eighth rounds. Two 10-8 rounds would be a bit hard to get over in a ten rounder.

I don't understand this comment. Even if Kickett did lose (remember he wasn't marking the cards), it was nothing if not a good quality fight for him against a not too distant ex-world champ. No disgrace there. What is there not to like, it was only his 11th fight.

On Boxrec's report of the fight it said St. Clair was knocked to the floor in the second and eigtth rounds, unless the referee called them slips.

Boxrec report said "St Clair floored in the second round and again in the eighth round." I just read it again to be sure.
